BLOG TOUR: Love of a Rockstar – Nicole Simone + Review & Luke's POV excerpt!

Released: June 28th, 2014

Marlene Parker thought she met her soul mate at eighteen but when he left her pregnant and alone to pursue a life of rock n roll, she vowed to never love again. Now four years later, she is being offered the dream of a lifetime. Moving to France with her daughter to start anew. There is only one problem. Marlene’s formative ex is back in town, and his pull is strong as ever.

Luke Anderson has everything a man could want. Fame, fortune and enough beautiful women to last him a lifetime. That is until a young runaway shows him what is truly important. Family. A word in which plagues Luke with regret. As a scared twenty two year old he ran away from the love of his life and their unborn child. Now ready to reverse his biggest regret with only three days to do it, Luke’s fate hangs in the balance. The question is, will he be able to convince Marlene their love story deserves a second chance?
"I never thought our love story had an end."
*COPY PROVIDED BY AUTHOR FOR AN HONEST REVIEW*

Different from the usually extremely angsty rockstar novels, Love of a Rockstar takes on a lighter tone that tells the tale of the rekindling fire between Marlene, a single mother swamped with work and the heavy weight of a child, and Luke, the man who abandoned them to pursue his career. It was a quick, fun read and I definitely love me a rockstar.

Okay, let me start off with the good things.

I love Marlene, love this woman. She's strong, independent. She can be stubborn as hell. She's sometimes too driven by love. But the effort she puts in into raising Nil is just admirable. Marlene put everything she wanted aside to take care of her daughter first.

Then there's Luke. At first I thought he was a douche (and I still think that he didn't grovel enough), but then he became sweeter as he got along better with Nil and with Marlene. I mean, for fuck's sake, this guy abandoned his girlfriend when she got preggers. And she was going to go to LE CORDON BLEU!!! That's one of, if not the best, culinary school in the world.

But then yeah, well, they fuck up. They kiss, they make up. And the story goes.

Although I loved the characters dearly, there were some faults that I just couldn't let go.

First of all, Marlene, like what the hell? Do you have that little willpower? I get that you're in love with him, but he abandoned you for Christ's sake, at least try to keep your vagina controlled until you get your emotions under control. I expected her to be either a) super upset, crying and she kicks him like out of the house for at least a couple of days or b) confront him, yell at him, like really blow up on him then have hot makeup sex.

Then, Luke, he had some irrational anger scenes that I just wanted to smack him in and yell at him, "YOU DON'T DESERVE TO BE MAD!" But anyway, moving on.

If the book had more details into the relationship - or maybe alternated between two point of views -  we'd at least see more of Luke's feelings to see that he's really serious.

The grandma, I love though (even though the parallels between her relationship and Marlene's were just too improbable), her quotes! Especially these two:
"I believe in finding a man who can be your best friend, because once the lust fades, friendship is what will hold the foundation of your marriage together."
And ESPECIALLY this one:
"You young people all want to live in a romantic movie but life isn't like that. It's messy and at the end of the day you want your best friend at your side."
THIS! I'm just like, YES!

Great read!

This isn't actually an excerpt from the novel but it's a scene written from Luke's POV! This is what we needed more throughout the novel. Nevertheless, enjoy!

I stepped out of the limo into the frigid Seattle air.  It had been almost four years since I came home and to be honest, my nerves were on edge.  My fans screamed wildly as I gave them a quick wave and hustled inside for warmth.  The elaborate entryway of the hotel reminded me how far I’d come since the beginning of my career.  Back when I was a broke ass musician, I slept in the van along with the rest of my band mates. Then again, we partied more than we slept. Alcohol kept my nightmares at bay and my emotions numb. That was in the past though; now, I was a new man, ready to face the consequences of my actions. My gaze landed on the receptionist desk where my manager said Marlene worked. Sure enough, there was a woman at the counter who looked like her but her hair was different.  Shorter, blunt at the edges with side swept bangs.  As if the woman could feel my eyes on her, she glanced up.  I knew it was Marlene by the shocked expression on her face. As if she was seeing a ghost.

Just to double check, I took a step closer. “M?”

At the term of endearment, her tooth snagged her bottom lip and that was all I needed. My heart turned over in my chest as I looked at the woman who had haunted my dreams.  Her face was the same, still uniquely beautiful.  However, being a mother brought out an inner glow.  Like the first time I saw Marlene, it was as if I was staring at the sun. Happiness warmed my soul. It was obvious she didn’t feel the same.  Her wide-eyed stare turned into one of panic and my gut told me she was about to bolt.  Quickly, I strode over but it was too late.

I held out my hand to stop her. “Wait,” I yelled.

Marlene’s long leg’s sprinted toward the women’s restroom where she disappeared inside. I knew I should have told her I was in Seattle instead of surprising her. My manager clasped her hand on my shoulder.

“What are you staring at?” She asked.

My eyes willed for the door to open and for Marlene to re-emerge. I was borderline desperate to hear her musical voice again.

“This time she was the one who ran away.” I murmured

I heard a smile in my manager’s voice. “So what are you going to do?”

“I’m going to wait.”

Four years ago, I walked out on the family I could have had. It would take a miracle for Marlene to forgive me and let me be a part of my daughter’s life.  Nonetheless, I was ready for the challenge.  They were everything I had left.

Released: June 24th, 2014

Sometimes you can’t change—and sometimes you just don’t want to. Discover Ben’s side of the story in this fourth novel by the beloved, top-selling indie author of Ten Tiny breaths, One Tiny Lie, and Four Seconds to Lose.
Purple-haired, sharp-tongued Reese MacKay knows all about making the wrong choice; she’s made plenty of them in her twenty-odd-years. So when her impulsive, short-lived marriage ends in heartbreak, she decides it’s time for a change. She moves to Miami with the intention of hitting reset on her irresponsible life, and she does quite well…aside from an epically humiliating one-night stand in Cancun with a hot blond bouncer named Ben. Thank God she can get on a plane and leave that mistake behind her.
Football scholarship and frat parties with hot chicks? Part of charmer Ben Morris’s plan. Blown knee that kills any hope of a professional football career? So not part of the plan. Luckily Ben has brains to go with his knockout looks and magnetism. After three long years of balancing law school with his job as a bouncer at Penny’s Palace, he’s ready to lead a more mature life—until his first day of work, when he finds himself in the office of that crazy, hot chick he met in Cancun. The one he hasn’t stopped thinking about.

If Ben truly were a smart guy, he’d stay clear of Reese. She’s the boss’s stepdaughter and it’s been made very clear that office romances are grounds for dismissal. Plus, rumor has it she’s trouble. The only problem is, he likes trouble, especially when it’s so good-looking…

Ben

I love the angry ones.

Of course, anyone who knows me would argue that I love any and all women, and I can’t exactly disagree. But I love the angry ones the most. They’re a challenge to be conquered, the reason for their fury usually fitting neatly into three buckets: insecure, scorned, hormonal.

And this chick gazing up at me with fire in her caramel eyes?

I’m betting on bucket number two.

“My, what an awfully bright red shirt you have on,” she pushes out between gritted teeth, as if she’s trying to be polite but can’t hide her disdain.

I didn’t know what I was walking into when the punk-rock chick with the crazy-ass muscular body waved us over, but her friend with the purple hair and her back to me had me intrigued. Now that I’m getting a good look at her face, I know who I’m spending my last night with in Cancún. She’s not what some would call traditionally “pretty.” Her eyes are slightly too big and far apart, her nose is slightly too long and slender, and her lips—though nice and wide—are on the thin side. Yet something about all of that put together makes her sexy as hell. Maybe it’s the little nose ring. Or maybe it’s the way her decent-sized tits are pressing up against me, her low V-neck tank top—a casual shirt, telling me she’s not trying to pick anyone up—giving me a fine view of her cleavage. Whatever it is, my dick is certainly pleased. “You like it?” I ask.

An irritated glare flickers to the material. “No.”

I can’t help but chuckle at her candor. “Will you at least give me a head start before you gore me?”

Those thin lip curls into a condescending smirk. “Bulls don’t see color. That’s a myth.”

The only thing I love more than an angry girl is a smart, angry girl.

This is going to be fun.

“Well, how about I solve the problem for you.” I take a step back from her and swiftly yank my shirt off, exposing six days of suntanned skin and an upper body that I know looks damn appealing because I work my ass off to keep it that way. The random catcalls from the tables around confirm it.

And then I simply stand there and grin like the cocky ass that I am as Angry Girl can’t keep her eyes from scanning the muscles I’ve honed since my college football days, her lips parting ever so subtly. I see the shift in her, the moment where she realizes that, though she’d prefer to castrate the entire male species right now, she can’t ignore her attraction to me.

At least, that’s what I want to see.

BLOG TOUR: Bride Undone – Kate Deveaux + Review, giveaway & excerpt!

Released: April 11th, 2014

In one week Chloe will walk down the aisle. Yet she’s a bride who can’t stop spying on the weddings of total strangers. Desperate to catch a glimpse of what true love really looks like, she is having serious second thoughts about tying the knot.

Until she meets Wes — the sexy long lost father of her groom. The hunk from Texas confirms her worst fears. She is marrying the wrong man.

Battling her intense attraction for Wes, the flame between them burns too hot to resist. Chloe and Wes give into their scorching passion and struggle with the consequences of their love.
"I want you for sex, yes, but I also want more. Much more."
*COPY PROVIDED BY AUTHOR FOR AN HONEST REVIEW*

Bride Undone was a schmexy short read filled with angst and hot, hot sex. Chloe feels a connection with Wes that she's never felt before – especially not with her fiancé who she was about to marry in a week. Battling both their feelings, Chloe and Wes had to overcome obstacles and complications in order to come together (both literally and well, you know).

Honestly, I wasn't too taken in with the book. The sex was definitely hot and that was what won me over. Anyone who can write a super hot sex scene is just A+.

However, the other aspects? Not so much. Chloe's character annoyed the hell out of me. I just wanted her to make up her mind. And falling in love with Wes? Not really. It's probably all thanks to her vagina acting up that she thought that she was in love with him. There wasn't enough of the development and the zing in their relationship for it to be called love.

I mean, stalking people's weddings? At first it was cute but then…
Chloe was aware of how weird it was that she went to the ceremonies of total strangers just to see that crucial moment when they looked into each other's eyes.
Yeah… cute? Not anymore. Creepy? Hell yes.

Wes, on the other hand, I liked. He's a sexy older man. Not to mention he's a cowboy. Mm-mm, sounds fantastic. Plus he makes a good living and then they have a LOT of sex. Boat sex, bed sex, everywhere sex.

To be honest, the book still needed more time to develop. The author could've extended it and added more details to their feelings and relationships to make it more believable.

3 APPLES!!!!!

♕ Bride Undone ♕
“Wes, it’s not your fault.” She struggled to convince him. “But I can’t marry your son. I have feelings for you and I can’t ignore them. I don’t want to.” She stepped toward him, praying he didn’t push her away.

He didn’t move, just stood there stone-faced.

“Don’t tell me you don’t feel it too.” She gazed at his chiseled face, his strong jaw, the flicker of gold in his eyes making her melt inside as they turned tender.

“Chloe,” he said softly. “What am I going to do with you?”

“You feel it too, don’t you?” She narrowed the space between them until she could feel the heat off his body and the thrum of his pulse.

“Fuck,” he cursed as he looked down at his cowboy boots and then slowly back up at her. He shook his head as if in defeat and pulled her to him. He pressed her body hard against his, jarring her with the impact, but loving the strength in his embrace.

His lips met hers and he kissed her, hard and demanding. “Chloe,” he murmured, wrapping his arms tightly around her and making her body hum with desire. “Yes, I feel it too.” One hand smoothed the hair from her face, the other cupped her ass firmly as he pulled her harder to him and parted her waiting lips with his tongue.

She welcomed his tongue eagerly as she grabbed his broad shoulders, running her hands along his strong back, feeling the muscles ripple under her fingers as he moved her across the room while kissing her.

The backs of her legs met the edge of the couch as he hovered over her, pushing her down as he kissed her lips hungrily, then down her neck, trailing his lips along her décolleté. It was if he was going to devour her and she ached for it.

She arched her body to him as his hands roamed, needy and forceful, finding their way under her blouse and into her bra. He grasped her breast firmly and squeezed her nipple as she kissed him with fervor, his rock-hard cock pressing into as she ran her hands down his back and pulled his ass to her. He pressed against her and fumbled with her buttons, seemingly frustrated at the tiny, round impediments to his desire. He tugged at them impatiently, trying to free her from her blouse. A button pinged across the room as his rough caresses continued.

She slithered out of her skirt and tugged at his belt. “Wait,” he said, looking down at her on the couch. He kicked his cowboy boots off. One boot bounced off the desk as he ripped his shirt over his head, revealing his muscled chest.

Her body trembled at the sight. He was so gorgeous. She eyed the trail of dark- brown hair leading from his navel downward and her pussy grew wet at the sight. She wanted him and could hardly wait for him to slip out of his pants.

Quickly, he whipped off his pants and boxers, his cock springing free, pre-come glistening on the tip. She was going to come just looking at him. She eyed his impressive erection and pulled him to her, wanting him inside her.

He kissed her, bracing his body with his arm, his muscles flexing. “Have to get you out of these.” He ripped her panties from her hips and over her legs, throwing them over his shoulder before kissing her deeply. He lowered himself on her, parting her legs with his thigh, his stiff shaft sliding in between her silky thighs.

The weight of him was heavy on her but it felt so sexy, manly, as his mouth explored hers. She wriggled under him until his cock was close to her aching pussy and clit.

“You make me crazy,” he gasped, moving his mouth along her jawline, down her neck and then tracing his tongue around her nipple.

She moaned at the sensation of his mouth sucking her nipple, making her pussy ache with longing as she clawed at his back. She flexed her hips, hitting her clit against his rod as she arched for him and his cock slid between her wet folds. She moaned as he stroked her clit, her slick entrance throbbing as he slid his length along her entrance, teasing her.
Wes’ phone beeped rapidly. He stopped abruptly, mere seconds from entering her soft wetness.

“Not now.” He gasped at the intrusion and rolled off her. The phone beeped again as he hurried over to the desk, leaving her breathless on the couch. “Someone is on their way up.”

She gazed at Wes standing behind the desk, becoming aware of her surroundings. His office. She had completely lost track of where she was, of what she was doing. All she knew was she wanted Wes. Her body throbbed with desire. She’d been so close to coming until the phone interrupted them.

Wes’ gorgeous naked form was silhouetted by the San Diego skyline as he stood naked behind his desk, the color draining from his face as he answered the phone and then snapped, “Stall him,” before slamming it down on the desk.

“Shit! Conner’s on his way up!” He frantically scrambled to gather their clothes as he threw Chloe her panties.

Chloe just stared at him, frozen.

“Quick, put your things on,” he barked as he hurried to pick up the rest of her belongings while clinging to his.

He slipped on his boxers and pants and shirt while Chloe struggled with her bra and panties, then her skirt and blouse. Crap, the button on her shirt was missing. She did it up the best she could.

“Fuck,” he said under his breath, but loud enough for her to hear. “I didn’t mean to be so rough.” He apparently realized the button was missing from her blouse. He ran his fingers through his thick hair, looking around the room.

“I liked it,” she said with a mischievous smile as she put her shoes back on.

A slight smile formed in the corner in his mouth but was quickly extinguished as he tucked his shirt back into his pants. “We’ve got a problem, Chloe.” He looked at her seriously .

“No, it’s fine, I’m on the Pill.”

“No, that’s not the problem. The problem is you and my son.” He put his boots back on.

“Don’t,” Chloe said, moving to him, placing two fingers firmly over his lips. He kissed her fingers. “I am not marrying him.”

Wes headed to the door. He paused before his door touched the handle. “Chloe, this never happened.” There was something about the cold look in his eyes that scared her.

“No, of course,” she agreed. The last thing she wanted was for Conner to find out.

“I mean it. This can’t ever happen again.” He turned to unlock the door. “Never, Chloe. Never.”

“But I’m calling off the wedding.” She pleaded with him just as Conner opened the door, his face revealing his shock.

*COPY PROVIDED BY AUTHOR FOR AN HONEST REVIEW*

If you're looking for an extremely hot read with little hints of love here and there, this collection of "short stories" is just the thing for you. This book is filled with hot stories, only around two-pages each. It oozes sex and explores several genres from fantasy, to romance, to purely erotica. A truly enjoyable read.

Wow, going into this book I didn't really expect that.

I mean, yes, I was expecting sex but I thought the short stories would be longer, like ten-pages or so. But when I found most of the stories being only two to three pages, I was surprised. Some, I was pleasantly surprised, some not so much.

But this collection is for those who just love sex sex sex. It's purely erotica. Although some of the stories had love in it, it didn't focus too much on the chemistry between the characters other than their sex.

However, a fantastic collection of "short" stories!

MY RATING:

4 APPLES!!!!!

Taken from: It is Time (Title Story)
It is time, I believe.

My heart beats in my throat, and a chilling cold freezes my fingers, but I urge myself to speak my mind. “How many women do you have?”

He regards me calmly.

I gulp, and feel a whirlwind stirring in my stomach, but I look back at him with as much strength as I can muster.

“There are you, Robyn -- you already know Robyn, and another girl called Tess.” He articulates slowly and clearly. “Three.”

A dull pain settles in my heart, but I accept it without letting it flare up. “Do they know as well?” I ask.

“Robyn possibly suspected that I had already met you before we had our threesome.” He says. “But no, basically. You are the only one who’ve ever asked.”

I nod.

The question, “Who’s your favorite?” circles in my head, but I know better than to ask that. Instead, I enquire, “You looked so peaceful when I asked you, were you expecting that question?”

“Not exactly.” He brushes a loose strand of hair out of my view as he continues. “But you’re easily the smartest girl I’ve met in my whole life. Whatever query you have, I think it’s best if I answer plainly, instead of trying to lie.”

I take a sip from my lukewarm tea and look around the apartment. The walls are bare; his suitcase is still leaning against the farthest wall, near the window. Except for the drinks on the kitchen counter, our shoes in the doorway and our clothes flung about casually on the floor, the place is empty.

He is in town every month or so, staying for about ten days each time. His business is good, so he can easily afford a spare apartment in the choicest region only for sleep and sex dates. The dingy brown sofa-bed does not bother him; he fucks hard and long on it, then cradles me to sleep.

I had known he was not for keeps, but the way he remembered details from our pillow talk, the meticulous attention he paid my body whenever he enjoyed me, and the sweet nothingness he consistently texted me everyday when he was away gradually built a cage around my heart. I grew attached to him and yearned for him earnestly.

To be fair, there is nothing to blame in him, because he has never deceived. Girls believed what they wanted; he never had to lie. I willingly accepted his sorry excuses whenever I wished to see him; it had always been him setting the time and date, and I showed up each time without fail.

I place the tea on the side, shift my position to face him and drink in his handsome features. His blue-green eyes effortlessly capture my soul; I drown in their watery symmetry. I often wonder if he truly speaks through his eyes, or am I the one convincing myself that I can read loving messages in his gaze. Perhaps I simply recite what my heart craves to hear in my mind when I worship his beauty.
