REVIEW: Officer Off Limits (Line of Duty #3) – Tessa Bailey

Released: July 23rd, 2012

A sexy category romance from Entangled's Brazen imprint...

His need to possess her is non-negotiable.

Story Brooks’ fiancé just called off their wedding two weeks before the happy day. As if that isn't bad enough, her semi-estranged father, an infamous NYPD hostage negotiator, has suffered a heart attack. Not wanting to examine her lack of emotion over the broken engagement, she hops on a plane to reconnect with her father before it’s too late.

Playboy hostage negotiator Daniel Chase has never, not once, been refused by a woman, so when a debate over hospital snack foods with a delectable kindergarten teacher ends in flat-out rejection, he makes it his mission to seduce her. His only obstacle? She’s the daughter of his mentor who implicitly forbade Daniel from pursuing her.

Despite her father’s warnings and Daniel’s troubled past, Daniel and Story can’t resist their intense attraction to one another. But when the reason for her fiancé’s abrupt wedding cancellation comes to light, can Story and Daniel's already forbidden relationship survive?
“How do people live their lives feeling like this, day in and day out? Like your next breath depends on another person’s happiness.”
This review is long overdue. I know, I'm sorry. But I will be going on somewhat of a hiatus since my school has been crazy busy. So, I have a few reviews ready and I'll post them whenever I feel like I have the time. Thank you for your patience and enjoy this review!

This was one of the best books in the series. Wow. The heroine was sassy and smoking hot. The hero was badass and also smoking hot. Daniel and Story had the kind of chemistry that just can’t be ignored. I was sucked right in and hooked right from the start.

Wow. This book was just wow.

I fucking loved Daniel. I fucking loved Story. I fucking LOVED them both.

The story starts off with well Story. Her fiancé – now ex – was dumping her because he had cheated on her with some bitch from work. Story realized that she was losing bits and bits of herself while she was with that douchewaffle and so this kind of release was kind of a relief for her. And for us. God, I love a woman with a backbone.
“You know, I could have sworn you were going to pick the trail mix.”“Oh, yeah? Why is that?”
“Because you’re both full of shit.”

My God, I fucking love this woman.

Then there’s Daniel, who’s super hot and superbadass. And he’s also had secrets of his own. When Daniel’s mentor, Jack, got a heart attack, his world and Story’s overlapped. That was when it all started. Story, being Jack’s only daughter, was off limits to Daniel, who was a complete ladies man.

And so the war begins.

Daniel had demons to face and, with Story, that was what he tried to do.

He was proving to her that he was capable of being more than a woman’s plaything. And in turn, Story realized, he was proving it to himself.

I LOVE HIM SO MUH-UH-UH-UCH.

Really, this book was the bomb. Loved it! (even though some of the lines were really cheesy)

MY RATING:
4.5 APPLES!!!!!

REVIEW: Five Ways to Fall (Ten Tiny Breaths #4) – K.A. Tucker

Released: June 24th, 2014

Purple-haired, sharp-tongued Reese MacKay knows all about making the wrong choice; she’s made plenty of them in her twenty-odd-years. So when her impulsive, short-lived marriage ends in heartbreak, she decides it’s time for a change. She moves to Miami with the intention of hitting reset on her irresponsible life, and she does quite well…aside from an epically humiliating one-night stand in Cancun with a hot blond bouncer named Ben. Thank God she can get on a plane and leave that mistake behind her.

Football scholarship and frat parties with hot chicks? Part of charmer Ben Morris’s plan. Blown knee that kills any hope of a professional football career? So not part of the plan. Luckily Ben has brains to go with his knockout looks and magnetism. After three long years of balancing law school with his job as a bouncer at Penny’s Palace, he’s ready to lead a more mature life—until his first day of work, when he finds himself in the office of that crazy, hot chick he met in Cancun. The one he hasn’t stopped thinking about.

If Ben truly were a smart guy, he’d stay clear of Reese. She’s the boss’s stepdaughter and it’s been made very clear that office romances are grounds for dismissal. Plus, rumor has it she’s trouble. The only problem is, he likes trouble, especially when it’s so good-looking…
"I think some foolish woman out there could maybe make you a blissful idiot one day."
Wow, no words could express how much I love this book. This is one of the best or possibly the best book from the series, and that’s saying something. K.A. Tucker wrote such a romantic and intense love story that will keep you hooked from beginning until the end with the witty comments, hot make out sessions and the undeniably strong chemistry between Ben and Reese.

My God, this book was utter perfection. No other words. I absolutely loved it and right now, I really can’t find anything wrong with it. I. LOVE. IT.

Reese’s character was just so fucking lovable. I loved how tough she was and how smart she was. You don’t see that many actual intelligent women these days in books. Sometimes, they’re smart yeah but Reese is manipulative and shrewd. I would never want to put myself on this woman’s warpath. Trust me.

When Reese falls into a desperate situation, she calls on her stepfather for help. In return, she has to agree to his conditions, which are to clean up her act and help out in his firm.

On the other hand, Ben has a lot of family issues to deal with and because of said family issues, he’s never really committed to a serious relationship, terrified of the damage it could cause (he doesn’t admit this of course because he’s all macho man). But Reese changed all that for him.

After a humiliating event for Reese with Ben, she was glad that he was merely a one-night stand. That is, until he finds Reese at the firm he was working at. The first thing he says? HA! It’ll make you laugh.

Of course, the two being so stubborn and with Reese just freshly out of a relationship with a douchewaffle who cheated on her, both were in no position to be in a real relationship. Thus, the struggle begins.

And I loved the quote I had on top. It’s so ironic that she ended up being the foolish woman. God bless her.

I love how weird their relationship was though and how casual they were with each other. They were always so comfortable around each other and would have this really easy thing going on. Loved it!
“Babe, the only way a wedding ring is landing on this finger of mine is if I’m in a coffin.”

“You may be in one by the end of tonight.”
Ah, that’s the Ben and Reese we all know and love.

MY RATING:

5 APPLES!!!!!

BLOG TOUR: Stay with Me (Wait for You #3) – J. Lynn + Review & teaser!

Released: September 23rd, 2014

At 21, Calla hasn’t done a lot of things. She’s never been kissed, never seen the ocean, never gone to an amusement park. But growing up, she witnessed some things no child ever should. She still carries the physical and emotional scars of living with a strung-out mother, Mona—secrets she keeps from everyone, including her close circle of college friends.

But the safe cocoon Calla has carefully built is shattered when she discovers her mom has stolen her college money and run up a huge credit card debt in her name. Now, Calla has to go back to the small town she thought she'd left behind and clean up her mom’s mess again. Of course, when she arrives at her mother’s bar, Mona is nowhere to be found. Instead, six feet of hotness named Jackson James is pouring drinks and keeping the place humming.

Sexy and intense, Jax is in Calla’s business from the moment they meet, giving her a job and helping her search for Mona. And the way he looks at her makes it clear he wants to get horizontal . . . and maybe something more. Before Calla can let him get close, though, she’s got to deal with the pain of the past—and some very bad guys out to mess her up if she doesn’t give them her mom.

"That shit is beautiful in its own way, but still fucking beautiful."

J. Lynn never ceases to amaze me (or make me sob like a five year old). With characters that have depths like Jax and Calla, she managed to twist a beautiful story out of all of the ugly in their pasts. The storyline hooked me in from the beginning and sunk me deep within the world of the characters with suspenseful thrill and heart-wrenching romance.
Um, wow.
Like what the hell just happened?
I don’t know why but picking up one of J. Lynn’s books always makes me cry. It sucks but it’s also awesome. I mean, I’ve honestly been so busy that I’ve gotten tired of reading lately but this book revived my love for angst-filled stories. So thank you, J. Lynn, you’ve given me my reading mojo back.
Guys with the name Jax are hot. And yes, I’m referring to Kimberly Lauren’s Beautiful Broken Rules and now to the wonderful Stay with Me. Jax James is a no-bullshit kind of man and I loved that about him. He was definitely not all shy with his affections for Calla even though he can be an idiot at times. He’s a genuinely good guy who can make super hot sexual innuendos (and also other sexual ehem moves too).
We see the world through Calla’s eyes, how she’s battled with lower self-esteem and fear of being looked upon differently by people. But she’s strong. Despite all the bad shit from her past, all the bad shit that’s going to happen in the book, she did not break down. Not once. And I’m so proud of her for that. Of course she got shaken up but she’s smart about dealing with her problems instead of being like those idiotic heroines in romance stories who just throw themselves into dangerous situations claiming that “oh, this is to save him/her”.
Like, no bitch, putting yourself in danger does NOT save people okay.
Calla can be hilarious too with some of her lines. I find myself laughing with whatever’s going on in her head. Love that!
One second I was ready to knee him in the nuts and the next I was thinking of other more pleasant things involving said nuts.
Oh my golly gee, I hoped his shirt just ripped up the sides and fell right off.

Anyway, I can go on and on about this book, not to mention all the cameos made by the previous couples *squeal* I LOOOOVED WAIT FOR YOU and I still haven’t read Jase and Teresa’s story but I will. Soon. I promise ;) And they were adorable and the support they give each other is unbelievable. Friends like that are friends for life.

MY RATING:

4.5 – 5 APPLES!!!!!
