J. Lynn never ceases to amaze me (or make me sob like a five year old). With characters that have depths like Jax and Calla, she managed to twist a beautiful story out of all of the ugly in their pasts. The storyline hooked me in from the beginning and sunk me deep within the world of the characters with suspenseful thrill and heart-wrenching romance.

Um, wow.

Like what the hell just happened?

I don’t know why but picking up one of J. Lynn’s books always makes me cry. It sucks but it’s also awesome. I mean, I’ve honestly been so busy that I’ve gotten tired of reading lately but this book revived my love for angst-filled stories. So thank you, J. Lynn, you’ve given me my reading mojo back.

Guys with the name Jax are hot. And yes, I’m referring to Kimberly Lauren’s Beautiful Broken Rules and now to the wonderful Stay with Me. Jax James is a no-bullshit kind of man and I loved that about him. He was definitely not all shy with his affections for Calla even though he can be an idiot at times. He’s a genuinely good guy who can make super hot sexual innuendos (and also other sexual ehem moves too).

We see the world through Calla’s eyes, how she’s battled with lower self-esteem and fear of being looked upon differently by people. But she’s strong. Despite all the bad shit from her past, all the bad shit that’s going to happen in the book, she did not break down. Not once. And I’m so proud of her for that. Of course she got shaken up but she’s smart about dealing with her problems instead of being like those idiotic heroines in romance stories who just throw themselves into dangerous situations claiming that “oh, this is to save him/her”.

Like, no bitch, putting yourself in danger does NOT save people okay.

Calla can be hilarious too with some of her lines. I find myself laughing with whatever’s going on in her head. Love that!

One second I was ready to knee him in the nuts and the next I was thinking of other more pleasant things involving said nuts.

Oh my golly gee, I hoped his shirt just ripped up the sides and fell right off.

Anyway, I can go on and on about this book, not to mention all the cameos made by the previous couples *squeal* I LOOOOVED WAIT FOR YOU and I still haven’t read Jase and Teresa’s story but I will. Soon. I promise ;) And they were adorable and the support they give each other is unbelievable. Friends like that are friends for life.

I love the angry ones.

Of course, anyone who knows me would argue that I love any and all women, and I can’t exactly disagree. But I love the angry ones the most. They’re a challenge to be conquered, the reason for their fury usually fitting neatly into three buckets: insecure, scorned, hormonal.

And this chick gazing up at me with fire in her caramel eyes?

I’m betting on bucket number two.

“My, what an awfully bright red shirt you have on,” she pushes out between gritted teeth, as if she’s trying to be polite but can’t hide her disdain.

I didn’t know what I was walking into when the punk-rock chick with the crazy-ass muscular body waved us over, but her friend with the purple hair and her back to me had me intrigued. Now that I’m getting a good look at her face, I know who I’m spending my last night with in Cancún. She’s not what some would call traditionally “pretty.” Her eyes are slightly too big and far apart, her nose is slightly too long and slender, and her lips—though nice and wide—are on the thin side. Yet something about all of that put together makes her sexy as hell. Maybe it’s the little nose ring. Or maybe it’s the way her decent-sized tits are pressing up against me, her low V-neck tank top—a casual shirt, telling me she’s not trying to pick anyone up—giving me a fine view of her cleavage. Whatever it is, my dick is certainly pleased. “You like it?” I ask.

An irritated glare flickers to the material. “No.”

I can’t help but chuckle at her candor. “Will you at least give me a head start before you gore me?”

Those thin lip curls into a condescending smirk. “Bulls don’t see color. That’s a myth.”

The only thing I love more than an angry girl is a smart, angry girl.

This is going to be fun.

“Well, how about I solve the problem for you.” I take a step back from her and swiftly yank my shirt off, exposing six days of suntanned skin and an upper body that I know looks damn appealing because I work my ass off to keep it that way. The random catcalls from the tables around confirm it.

And then I simply stand there and grin like the cocky ass that I am as Angry Girl can’t keep her eyes from scanning the muscles I’ve honed since my college football days, her lips parting ever so subtly. I see the shift in her, the moment where she realizes that, though she’d prefer to castrate the entire male species right now, she can’t ignore her attraction to me.

At least, that’s what I want to see.

Emotionally wrecking but it also pieced my heart together as the two slowly fell in love. The characters were both deliriously stubborn with issues stacked higher than Mount Everest. Yet the two, in the midst of despair, managed to find solace and comfort in each other.

Audrey Bell has created yet another wonderfully written book. Although honestly it was slightly lacking in the emotional connection, the dialogue and the characters' actions were written so wonderfully, especially since the point of views kept alternating so we get a look into both their heads.

We've first got Christian Cutlass who basically lost everything that one fateful night. No, not everything. He's still a man with hope but also a man filled with guilt. He doesn't think he deserve any happiness.

On the other hand, January Cooper had everything. Wealthy, beautiful and popular. Well, if you don't count the fact that one of her ex-boyfriends is a cheating stoner and the other is a impulsive cheater on drugs. But the exposure of her father's fraud flipped her world on its axes. No money, no home, nothing. It was her against the world.

Although they both showed significant emotional pain, they always managed to work through it. January rarely ever cried until what happened, until she realized how vulnerable she actually was. Christian was perfectly content with his average life but then the guilt and the pain kept building up inside of him until it burst like a dam.

However, the two connects in a way that is difficult for other couples, which is through pain. Beautiful, intricately written and just wonderful. Wonderful sigh.

Scare Crow has been on my tbr list for years now and my excitement when I finally got my ARC was uncontainable. It was deeply moving and heartfelt, frustrating and exciting, filled with joy and anger. It was a mixture of everything I had expected it to be. In this long-awaited sequel, Emily and Cameron are separated as they try to deal with the demons from their past and the arising ones at present time. One without the other, they are two pieces of a broken heart. I cried and laughed and bit my fist for almost every scene in this novel.

This sequel. This goddamned sequel. I have waited YEARS for this. AND NOW IT'S HERE!!! Let me just do a quick victory dance.

Phew, now that that's out of the way, let's move on to the review.

Basically this book kind of alternated between Emily and Cameron's point of views. I love how we got a look inside both their heads. But what frustrated me to no end was THAT THEY'RE STILL SEPARATED. I guess that was the author's intention, to increase the suspense and make their reunion worth it.

In Emily's world, she lives on earth as if she was in limbo. She becomes a shell of her former self after Cameron's "death". She doesn't really give a shit anymore. But she is a ghost who's out for revenge. She wants to murder Spider and Shield who were responsible for the death of her other half. And I understand how deep her love went for Cameron. She wanted to out those who killed Cameron and wanted into Cameron's world. However, Emily was beyond reckless.

Emily connects with Griff here. OH GOD I'VE MISSED THAT MAN. Honestly, I wasn't that huge of a fan of Griff in Crow's Row but here, we see another side to him. A softer side who would support Emily but would also scold her and try to prevent anything from happening to her. He protected her. He cared for her. He loved her. My God, this man was why I loved reading Emily's part.

He's too goddamn sweet for his own good.

“I start thinking of another escape plan and ways of trying to find my beautiful girl. Ways to try to save both of us again. Before I know it, I’m sent to be with her in this shithole, and I still have no idea who she is. And yet…”

“And yet?”

“And yet, I’m exactly where I want to be.”

Emily's smart though, I have to admit. Her plans everything she does all thought through. Well, except for the murdering some super dangerous guys. But the way she wants to get into the underworld? Genius.

Then in Cameron's part. He's trying to deal with the destruction of the Coalition. Everything inside was being destroyed bit by bit from the outside with people fighting against each other and war just waiting to break through. And he's still worrying about Emily. As much as it hurts him to let her go, he's doing the noble thing by letting her live her own life. But they're both miserable without each other.

And Cameron *sigh* my sweet, sweet Cameron.

The Cameron I knew, the real Cameron, had been gracious and fair. He had been warm. Tender. When you saw him—when he let you see him—Cameron was exquisite. He was all my love and my joy. My paradise. My paradise lost.

This is such a fantastic and brilliant line. It describes Cameron perfectly. He's this beautiful man who's so strong and who's been through so much. He's sweet and warm, kind and gentle. He was well "exquisite".

But Cameron was also broken. With everything that's been going through in his life with his family, his business, his friends, Emily, he's been dragged through so much crap in his life and placed in so much more.

How can someone who has never been loved be able to love? — Cam

These two had such a heartbreaking tale in this book. Where it was all love and destruction in the first book, Scare Crow was about forgiveness and redemption. It was so beautifully written and frustrating to read but I understood why it was that way.

Finding love in all of the ugly. Finding forgiveness in all of the destruction. Finding absolution.

But of course, I've got to add in about Billy. My God, even when he's gone, he's hilarious.

Great sequel for a great book! I can't wait for Crow's Row #3 *crossing my fingers that I don't have to wait another 3 years for the final book* This is worse than waiting for Sherlock.
