BLOG TOUR: Exception – Patty Maximini + Review & giveaway!

Released: November 1st, 2013

When all hope for moving on from a life filled with pain was gone, Emily Watson closed herself off to the world, packed her bags, and moved across the country in search of a new life. What she found was a career she adored and friends whom she loved. It wasn't a full and complete life, but it was definitely better than what she knew before.

When all hope for being loved and accepted for who he was instead of what he had was gone, Taylor Carter decided that trusting people outside of his family wasn't really smart and would only lead to disappointment. With his world turned upside down, his life became about his work, and every new relationship was meaningless and superficial. He was safe, and definitely content, but never truly happy.

When all hope for staying awake during a long day was gone, Emily and Taylor found themselves at the same coffee cart. Little did they know then that the worst coffee they'd ever drank would forever change their lives.

When hopeless people are blinded by an endless pain. When contentment and safety feels like the best option, and love seems impossible, they may just find an EXCEPTION.
"Sometimes life isn't nice or fair. Sometimes we get burned and good people suffer hell twice over, but we can't give up. We can never give up trying to be happy when we know we deserve it."
**COPY PROVIDED BY AUTHOR**

Exception was such a sweet tale about two people with troubling pasts. We follow them as they begin their friendship, try to dismiss and suppress their feelings, until the end as they fall in love and reach their happily ever after. It was truly a romantic journey about finding love in the oddest of places and finally finding their definition of home.

God, this book was just so heart-breaking and frustrating sometimes. It was tough for me to finish it because, despite the oh-so-sweet phrases and confessions, sometimes their relationship was just too bland.

First thing I disliked about it was that they were too similar. I mean, what were the odds of finding 'The One' and he is almost an exact carbon copy of you in terms of interests? One in a million. But still these two made it work somehow. Although I found it quite apprehensive about it at first, I'm happy to say that the author managed to get rid of my uneasiness of it.

The characters were beautifully written. The tangled up mess of their past to their romantic present.

Every time I think of Taylor, I would just sigh with all his sweet remarks towards her.
"What draws me to you isn't your looks, it's who you are. All I want is to get to know you, to understand you, and to be there for you in any way you need. I want that because, for the past three years, my life has been a hellhole where nothing made sense."
Not only were they best friends, but they were lovers. I loved how they maintained their closeness instead of making it awkward and tense.

But Emily has a hard time trusting people. She's had such a fucked up past that she can't seem to let go. She can't seem to bring herself to move forward and leave it all behind because of the trauma. Until Taylor. Until he saved her.
"Feelings like these only bring pain and suffering. I won't be put in that place again. I won't fool myself into thinking I'll be happy just to be shot down in flames again."
She was so scared. So damn scared that she'd lose him.

But Taylor was considerate, thoughtful and patient with her. He made sure that she smiled everyday. He made sure that she was protected. He made sure that everything goes well for her. He cares about her that much.

Beautiful story!

Minor Faults:
  • Ending was a bit too dramatic for my taste

I’m Patty, and words have always been a passion of mine. I’ve always loved to read them, write them and learn them in other languages. Last year, I’ve decided to take that passion and turn it into a book, the result was Exception, my very first novel due this October.
Whenever I’m not sitting behind my computer, I’m either enjoying the company of my dear hubby, Alex, and our four four-legged babies or reading. I’m a firm believer in long hand written letters, love of any kind and good stories.

BLOG TOUR: Surrender to Love – J.C. Valentine + Review, giveaway & excerpt!

Released: November 12th, 2013

After finding herself out of luck and out of love, Patricia Jacobs has written off the male species. No one but her father has ever given her the love and devotion she knows she deserves, and she’s sick and tired of it. Until she collides, literally, with a man whose devastating smile and seductive charm that should be considered illegal, destroys her plans. He’s everything she’s ever dreamed of in a man: handsome, intelligent, successful, they share a love of cars and best of all; he looks at her like she’s his light in the dark. What more could a girl ask for?

Jonathon Bradshaw, destroyed by a past that has haunted his every waking moment for the last five years, isn’t looking for a serious relationship, until he meets Patricia. Sweet, saucy and as hot as the summer is long, Jon can’t deny the draw he has toward her. For the first time, he has hope. Determined to shake the ghosts of his past, Jon focuses on forging a future with Patti, but he’s always been a master at standing in his own way.

When Jon’s past refuses to be forgotten, will Patti be able to live with the truth about the man who’s stolen her heart?
"If you want to be happy, you're going to have to let go and surrender to love and trust that it's strong enough to carry you through the worst so you can find your way through the best."
**COPY PROVIDED BY AUTHOR**

Surrender to Love was such a beautiful read that drew me in straight from the beginning. We get Patti who's this tough yet fragile independent woman and also Jon who's a handsome, successful entrepreneur with a past that he can't seem to let go. Together, they weaved this romantic, fast-paced love story about second chances and forgiveness. A remarkable read!

I finished this book in one day. Hell, scratch that, I finished this book in like three hours tops. It was fucking amazing.

The story starts off with Patti and her breakup over that douchewaffle. And then she gets laid off. What a way to start a book huh? She wallows in self-pity for awhile until her friends drag her out of her pit of despair and into a club. That's where she first meets Jon.

And Patti, she's been through plenty of shit before.
She'd endured dozens of breakups in her short life, but she'd never experienced the pain of a broken heart, because you can't break what you've never given away.
Jon, on the other hand, begins by waking up a blonde he just slept with to get to work. He, similar to other players, promises that he'd call but of course, he doesn't even have her number. Nor does he give a shit.

Somehow, the paths of these two cross and they get tangled up in a clusterfuck, fast-paced, heart-racing tale.

Although it was complicated at first with their second meeting as Jon rear-ending (literally) her car, they somehow manage to fall in love (this is not a spoiler as obviously they will).

They're both equally as stubborn, which made me love them even more. But they both accepted the other for who they are. They were just… them.

It's complicated for them and I just adore stories like these. It's not about her changing him from the player to a one-woman kind of man. It's about her teaching him how to live. Teaching him how to forgive. Teaching him how to love.

Ugh, not to mention the super hot nonstop sex they have. They're both insatiable.

Minor Faults:
  • Patti caved in way too easily in the beginning
  • Slightly too fast-paced but since they mentioned it, it doesn't matter to me.

5 SO-FUCKING-BEAUTIFUL APPLES!!!!!

The bad thing about summer was how long the sun took to set. Patti didn’t realize how much time had passed until she heard the heavy thud of a car door nearby. She wasn’t given much time to gather her thoughts before she heard the voice that made her tingle all the way down to her toes.

“So you drive a muscle car and you like to get dirty.” His voice was thick with appreciation and held a touch of laughter.

Patti used her feet to propel herself from under the car. Once she was clear, she found herself looking up into Jon’s incredible blue eyes.

“Damn, and I thought you were stunning before.” His eyes skimmed down her body, and Patti became acutely aware of how much skin she was showing. She snapped her legs closed.

“What time is it?” she asked from her prone position.
Jon held out his hand and she took it. Grasping it tightly, he pulled her to her feet. “It’s nearly eight. I’m usually late for everything, but I found myself unable to wait any longer.” He slid his gaze over her again, and Patti felt her cheeks warm. Here he was confessing that he couldn’t wait to see her, and she had lost track of time over a car.

He hadn’t let go of her hand, she realized. Gently slipping her fingers free of his, Patti stepped back. Standing there in her filthy tank top and shorts, grease and oil smudging her exposed skin, while he stood before her looking completely edible in a pair of fitted black slacks and a white button down dress shirt, she couldn’t help feeling self-conscious.

“I’m sorry I’m not ready. I got distracted.” Patti jerked her thumb over her shoulder at the car.

Jon followed with his eyes and nodded. “That’s understandable; having something that beautiful at your disposal is bound to cause some distraction.”

When Patti looked up at him, she found his intense eyes focused on her and she got the distinct impression that he wasn’t referring to the car.

“I can be ready in fifteen minutes, if you still want to go out,” she stammered.

A slow, wolfish smile spread across Jon’s face as he took her in again. “If you look this good dirty...” He cleared his throat and shook his head. “Yeah, I still want to go out, but you’d better make it ten because anything beyond that and I can’t promise I’ll still be a gentleman.”

[Review] Office Toy – Cleo Peitsche

Released: October 21st, 2012

Office Toy is an erotic MfMM (3 guys, 1 lucky gal) BDSM story of 8,400 words.

Elle’s job interview starts with Cunningham throwing away her cheap clothes and sending his assistant to buy new outfits. He’s got her naked, so of course he’ll lay her out on the conference table and claim her mouth. Soon Elle is trussed up, all of her holes stretched full while three hot men have their wicked way.

She loves her first tastes of liberated, naughty sex. But she’d better not start falling for her boss—no matter how safe he makes her feel—because while office sex is encouraged, romance is strictly forbidden.

This story contains explicit sexual content and graphic language that may be objectionable to some readers. For adults only
"But maybe she wasn't really a nice girl."
**COPY PROVIDED BY NETGALLEY**

Office Toy is exactly what you'd expect it to be. 27 pages filled with smoking and it-would-make-your-mother-scream kind of sex. Elle seems like a sweet girl at first but then she actually isn't a goody two shoes either. She finds her fetishes and desires through these three men. Read only for sex, don't expect romance! Expect really, really rough sex.

When my request in NetGalley got approved, I was jumping with joy! I've been meaning to read this book but I can't seem to afford anything these days. But, YES! I was like, holy shit, yes!

Honestly, you cannot anything but hot sex from this book. You can't expect those sweet, lovey dovey romance. It's not about two people being in love. It's about a girl trying to find her identity with three other men.
She was the kind of woman who always tried to watch normal porn and then found herself typing "gang bang" into the search engine.
As you can see, she's not the sweet girl you expect her to be.

And the sex! Holy shit. Now, that's some hot sex.

AGAIN! You cannot go into this expecting a smutty romance. IT'S NOT! It's rough, fast sex.

But dayumm, three men. AND THOSE THREE ARE SMOKIN!

Cunningham is the head honcho and probably the biggest, mm-mm. Then in comes Jonathon, who's equally as hot in a beautiful kind of way. Then the rude receptionist who's pretty talented when it comes to bed too, Nolan.

Book was hot. Sizzling hot. The sex was freaking awesome. Pure, rough, uncensored, unbridled gang bang.

MY RATING:

4 HOLY-FUCK APPLES!!!!!

If Cleo isn't writing (or reading!) erotica, she's probably sitting on her balcony, watching the wind blow through the trees. She loves snowstorms, piña coladas, horses, and pasta primavera. If she won the lottery, she would hire an assistant to take care of the technical side of e-publishing so that she could write all day.

“Fine. Bring me the damn suit,” I grumble begrudgingly.

“You’re the best! You know that?” Kara kisses me chastely. Her father is still there after all.

Bill laughs once Kara bolts up the stairs.

“Laugh now. Next thing you know she’ll make you be my elf!” I threaten good naturedly.

“I’d love to see that,” he says in between chuckles.

“Ah crap!” I pull my hands through my hair, seriously wanting to throw a child-sized temper tantrum at this turn of events.

“Think of it this way, son. It will be good practice for when you have kids. And you’re making those girls’ night.”

“Yeah… alright. I guess I can try to look on the bright side of things,” I concede. The last thing I need is for my soon to be father-in-law to think I’m a big baby.

Kara returns twenty minutes later with a giant red bag. I drag it into the bathroom and take my time changing. Part of me hopes that if I take too long the girls will fall asleep or something. Stranger things have happened.

“It’s Christmas Eve, Jacob. The girls won’t want to fall asleep regardless, so don’t think you can get out of this,” Kara calls through door.

How the hell does she do that? It’s worse than the eyes in the back of her head.

“I’ll be out in a minute,” I yell through the door.

After I velcro the giant pillow onto my belly, I turn to the side and stick my stomach out further, poking at my now enlarged gut. I roll my abdominal muscles making the pillow bounce and ripple. Chuckling at my nonsense, I step into the red, velvet pants. I pull the black suspenders over my shoulder and do a little jig watching as my stomach bounces around.

Apparently this suit sucks the seriousness out of you. Maybe it’s a magic suit…

I stop my musings and proceed to put the jacket on and button it up.

I look damn good in red. Even with a giant stomach.

Next comes the wig and beard, followed by the hat. Now I have absolutely no reason to walk out of this bathroom. Damn.

Opening the door, Kara is the first thing I see. Her face lights up and she graces me with a wide smile. She lifts her arm, and then she does the unthinkable when she snaps a picture with her cell phone.

“Lump of coal for you!” I shout and make like I’m going to attack her. When I lunge for her, she screeches and runs across the room.

Once I catch up with her, she reaches out and rubs red shit on my cheeks. “Really?” I ask not wanting to deal with this shit.

“You are so going to get lucky later,” she mumbles so only I can hear her.

“Damn straight. You owe me one creative session, Sunshine.”

“There is this new position I heard about that I’ve been curious to try.”

“It’s a good thing this suit is big, otherwise my sister would think Santa was a giant perv. What do you think you’re doing telling me that now?” I gripe, knowing my nieces can’t sit on my lap while I’m turned on.

“Sorry. I forget,” she says like that explains it all.

“You’re lucky I love you.” I kiss her forehead and start towards the stairs. “Let’s get this over with.”
