WoW: Working It - Kendall Ryan

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine to spotlight releases that we're looking forward to! Here is my choice this week...

Working It

Title: Working It
Author: Kendall Ryan
Is it a sequel? No
Release Date: August 5th, 2013
Synopsis from Goodreads:
Straight-laced Emmy Clarke's assistant job at the modeling agency provides her with one distinct perk – getting to watch pretty mancandy parade around all day. But having to work under the ultra-bitchy Fiona Stone barely makes it worth it. Emmy enjoys looking, but she's not stupid enough to fall for one of the tempting specimens. Especially not rising star Ben Shaw.

Ben is everything Emmy's not: well-traveled, highly paid and exquisitely gorgeous. He's also got more issues than Vogue. Against her better judgement to get involved, Emmy's southern roots kick in, and whenever he's on set, she makes sure he's treated well and looked after. But she refuses to become one of the pathetic groupies lusting after him, and soon Ben's drawn toward her refreshingly real attitude.

Against the backdrop of fashion shows in NYC, Paris and Milan, their casual flirting turns into more, and they embark on a journey of sexual discovery. But when Ben's twisted past is uncovered, it threatens both their relationship and careers as the bitter Fiona digs her flaw in, unwilling to let her golden boy go without a catfight.

Filled with passion, jealousy and heart-thumping sex, Working It is the tale of falling for a supermodel.

My Comments:
Kendall Ryan's recent releases didn't blow me away like her Hard to Love did. That book was just so fucking hilarious and heart-warming. But I haven't given up hope that maybe this book might be better than her previous ones! I'm definitely lowering my expectations but, man, I want a book like that again.

[Review] The Impact Of You - Kendall Ryan

Released: June 7th, 2013

Needing an escape from her past, Avery chooses a college in a small town where no one knows her. Keeping a low profile was the plan. Falling for the intense frat boy, Jase, wasn't. Yet she can't deny how alive she feels when he's near. Even as her mind screams for her to stay away, her body begs her to keep going.

Jase, numb from his own family drama, has grown bored with weekends filled with nameless girls and countless bottles when he meets Avery. Helping her cope with her past and teaching her how to live life fully is better than dealing with the bullshit his own life's served up. Determined to drive away the painful secret of her past she's guarding, he makes himself her life coach and creates challenges for her to experience new things and break out of her shell. Getting close to her and being the one to make her smile are simply perks of the job.

But when Avery's past saunters back into their lives, refusing to be forgotten, can Jase live with the truth about the girl he's fallen for?

A sexy, heart-warming and just great fun kind of book! Kendall Ryan once again creates another romantic book filled with horribly painful scenes, romantic scenes that make you swoon and hilarious scenes that made me piss my pants. The only problem I had with this book was that it was just a teensy bit too fast-paced. But not by much. I thought that the characters were absolutely wonderful and the plot was intriguing! Don't you just love books where the guy screws up? Well, here he does it. TWICE!

I love Avery. She's now on my list of top heroines. She's strong and vulnerable, innocent but not naïve, soft and gentle, yet feisty too. She's like thirty people in one. I like how, even though her past almost destroyed her completely and changed who she was, she didn't let it bring her down and just kept trudging on.

Jase was, ugh, so perfect throughout most of the book. He was a complete gentleman and an arrogant ass at the same time. But then again, what guy isn't? He's the typical player who then does a total 180 for the girl he loves. One tiny problem I had against Jase was how he reacted to Avery's past. It was sort of irrational and he was being rude to her. It wasn't technically her fault. I was also not a fan of how he didn't even apologize to her. For his first mistake at least.

MY RATING:

4 SWEET APPLES!!!!

About The Author:

Kendall Ryan is the author of the bestselling adult romances Unravel Me, Make Me Yours, Hard to Love, and Resisting Her.  She is shamelessly addicted to bad boys, kissing and steamy romance novels brimming with dark, angsty tension. She also likes kissing and wine!
