WoW: Off the Record – K.A. Linde

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine to spotlight releases that we're looking forward to! Here is my choice this week...

Off the Record

Title: Off the Record
Author: K.A. Linde
Is it a sequel? No, #1 book of the Record Series
Release Date: March 11th, 2014
Liz Dougherty has no idea a single question is about to change her life.

Her first big reporting assignment for her North Carolina college newspaper has her covering a state senator’s impromptu press conference. Brady Maxwell may have everything it takes to be a politician—a winning pedigree, devastating good looks, a body made to wear suits—but his politics rub Liz the wrong way. When Liz’s hard-hitting question catches the upstart senator off-guard, it impresses Hayden Lane, Liz’s editor who feels she’s headed for a promising career as a reporter.

But Liz is also headed into a secret romance with Brady that could destroy both their ambitions. Though he’s a bachelor, potential voters might frown on Brady cozying up to a reporter. And Liz isn’t sure sneaking around is enough for her—especially when things between her and Hayden might be less platonic than she thought.

Sleek, sexy, and smart, Off the Record ventures into a high-stakes campaign and an even higher-stakes affair to answer the question: When politics and love collide, can there ever be a winner?

My Comments:
WHOOOO!!! A new book from the author of Avoiding Commitment so I'm super pumped for this! I love K.A. Linde's writing style so this book, I'm definitely looking forward to it ;)

REVIEW: Willow Point (A Harbour Falls Mystery #2) – S.R. Grey

Released: April 17th, 2013

With the Harbour Falls Mystery solved, author Maddy Fitch hopes secrets and lies are behind her. But a cryptic letter from her former best friend would seem to indicate otherwise. Is the man Maddy fell in love with while solving the Harbour Falls Mystery, the gorgeous and rich Adam Ward, keeping a damning and potentially dangerous secret from her? Only the writer of the letter, Ami Hensley, knows for sure. But Maddy is hesitant to confront her, since the last time they saw one another Ami tried to kill her.

But if Maddy wants answers--ones that could potentially save Adam--then she must face her fears and visit her former friend. Unfortunately for Maddy, Ami is currently locked up in the creepiest place in Maine, an old gothic structure that houses the criminally insane, known simply as Willow Point.

Will this new mystery tear Maddy and Adam apart?

Who else is in on Adam's secret?

And will Maddy find the answers before it's too late?

Another heart-stopping page turner from the author of Harbour Falls. Willow Point promises to keep you on the edge of your seat.

2nd in A Harbour Falls Mystery series.

"Once again my world was being turned upside down. I could feel it. I imagined a giant hourglass being turned with me in it. I just hoped I didn't end up buried."
**COPY PROVIDED BY AUTHOR FOR AN HONEST REVIEW**

This is one of the books I will be reviewing for a blog tour and the final of the trilogy review will be posted on MARCH 10TH.

Willow Point is steamier and much more intense than the first book of the trilogy. There are so many twists and turns as we learn more and more of Adam's secrets and the life-threatening situations they are placed in. Maddy must face the worst of challenges in order to save the man she loves. But, of course, there are always things in the way. S.R. Grey's writing was extremely enjoyable here and easy to read, which I absolutely love.

This time, the novel focuses on Maddy as she journeys on to discover Adam's secret which will either save him or break them apart. Or both. Willow Point is an asylum for the criminals, which is where the culprit to Chelsea Hannigan's death, who we discover in the first installment, resides (I WILL REFER TO THEM AS "Z". As "Z" is mentally unstable and seemingly dangerous to society, "Z" is placed in the mental facility. But of course, "Z" has their ways of sending messages to Maddy.

When Maddy receives a letter from "Z" that threatens her trust in Adam, she digs deeper into the mystery and becomes even more confused about the man she loves.

So Maddy *SPOILERISH* breaks up with Adam *END OF SPOILER* in order to carry out her plan. She moves into a small house just off the island to find out more about the cryptic clues that "Z" sent her.

But then she also meets the super hot, super dangerous Stowe. He is her next door neighbor who's so freaking good looking. But Stowe is also hiding secrets of his own.

On the other hand, Adam has to deal with Maddy's changes in decisions and opinions and, of course, what she's keeping from him. But Adam also has his job to deal with, which we will see will connect to the final book of the trilogy.

This book is more gritty and heart-racing than Harbour Falls and definitely less predictable. In the first one, I could still guess who's the culprit. But here? HOLY SHIIIITTTTT.

I honestly didn't expect that to happen. Although I was hoping for something more mindblowing and manipulative, this one was a pretty damn good mystery.

The ending, is again, another cliffhanger from S.R. Grey. And so I'm off to read Wickingham Way! Cheers, everyone!

MY RATING:
4 APPLES!!!!!

She acts like she’s just a normal girl and I’m just a normal guy, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. My past isn’t pretty, you know. I did what I had to do to survive, and she’d run if she learned the truth about my darkness. But with her, I’m finally realizing what it’s like to be alive. To laugh, live, and be happy.

All good things must come to an end…
"I can't let you go without a fight."

AAAH!!! A simple and sweet story about a young, famous country artist with a guy who wants to keep his past and secrets buried. The characters were captivating and I especially loved the storyline and angst! Although it was slightly too fast, but this is a novella so it's understandable. I was definitely so into the storyline and the characters!

EEEE!!! I loved it! The story was your typical adorable romance.

MacKenzie Forbes is just a girl who desperately wants to lose her virginity without being in the eye of the public like she always has. She's tired of having to keep up her "good girl" image. So she takes off with two of her girl friends to Key West for a fun, no-strings-attached spring break.

I love how sweet MacKenzie was. She's so down-to-earth and considerate. She wanted to give her best friends the best spring break of their lives. When she had some trouble with Austin, he thought she was going to leave but:
"Why punish them by making them leave early? If I had left, they would have insisted on coming with me for support. There's no doubt about it, and I didn't want to ruin their vacation."
She's generous and beautiful. I really liked her character because she was so chill even though, of course, being famous always kept her in the eye of the paparazzi. It's hard for her and I understand that. Yet, the way she manages to keep her feet on the ground just amazes me.

Then there's Austin. WHEW [fans self while melting to the ground] He's smoking hot, a musician and super protective of his little sister. He's gorgeous and a complete family man. AND DAMN THOSE TATTOOS! I'm a sucker for bad boys.
"But once we're in that bed, I'm in control."
Austin can be extremely sweet with his words. He's very grounded and he knows how hard it is to survive in a world like his. He's been through a lot of tough crap that life throws his way but he manages to stay positive. Well, most of the time.

AND GOOOOD, WHEN HE'S BEING SO DAMN SWEET
"I know thinking we can make this work is fucking stupid and impetuous—some might even call it a daydream. But I can't let you go without a fight. I think, if you let me, I could love you so damn good. I could make you happy."
It's done. I'm in love with him.

REVIEW: Harbour Falls (A Harbour Falls Mystery #1) – S.R. Grey

Released: October 31st, 2012

Best-selling author Maddy Fitch, researching material for a new novel, returns to her hometown of Harbour Falls to investigate a disappearance that has haunted the tiny Maine coastal town for the past four years. Maddy soon discovers that the case has gone cold, but the prime suspect, Adam Ward, is hotter than ever. Now living on an isolated island, Maddy takes up residence near the sexy Mr. Ward's home. As she begins to seek out answers, the mystery deepens, putting Maddy in jeopardy.
Lies, secrets, deceptions. Nothing is ever what it seems in Harbour Falls.

A steamy novel that immerses the reader in an intricate storyline that will keep them glued till the very last page.

First in a series. Romance/Mystery genre.
"Much like the Harbour Falls Mystery itself, the man at the center was a puzzle. And I longed to solve him piece by piece."
**COPY PROVIDED BY AUTHOR FOR AN HONEST REVIEW**

This is one of the books I will be reviewing for a blog tour and the final of the trilogy review will be posted on MARCH 10TH.

Harbour Falls was surprisingly enjoyable. A delicious blend of steamy, sexy scenes and thrilling, heart-racing mystery. Although it was slightly predictable, I definitely adored the characters, especially Adam Ward, the sexy then-bachelor.

Introducing Harbour Falls, a small secluded city on an island, plagued by a mystery for over a decade. Beautiful but haunting.

Maddy Fitch, a best-selling novelist, who originated from the island returns after many years off it. She needs inspiration for her new novel and what better story than the mystery of Harbour Falls, about the disappearance of a young girl, that's been there for decades?

So Maddy becomes an amateur sleuth as she digs deeper into the truth. But the deeper she digs into it, the deeper the grave that she's put herself in.

Then enters Adam Ward, the super schmexy computer science genius and MIT graduate. He's mysterious and deliciously seductive. But he's also the number one suspect in his fiance's disappearance.

When Maddy comes back to Harbour Falls, everyone becomes a suspect. With everyone holding a secret of their own, no one is safe anymore. Even her old friends have changed, some for the better and some for the worse.

Now, let's talk about the romance first.

Although I must admit that it's waaaay too fast-paced, which I'm not a big fan of. I see the chemistry and connection between Adam and Maddy. They've both had crushes on each other since high school but never acted upon it because Adam was the guy back then and, well, Chelsea had her claws deep inside him.

But when she returns and they reunite, sparks instantly ignite and the little flame that they had blazed into an inferno.
Amid noisy gasps and hot breaths, Adam deepened our kiss, tenderly parting my lips until our tongues met—all strawberries, champagne, and the thrill of uncharted exploration that only those first kisses can deliver.
WOW. Whew [fans self] now, that's one hot scene.

And Adam wow. He's been hurt for so long over the accusations and all the secrets, of living his life in fear and hiding that fear. When Maddy reenters his life, it all changes.
"Because you make me feel something I thought I'd never feel again. So I'm willing to take this chance with you. Even it means my ruin."
I think I just melted.

Then there's the case that Maddy's investigating.

This is probably her throughout the whole book as she tries to look into it:

Everyone Maddy knows becomes a suspect and she trusts only her father in the beginning. But as more and more secrets unravel, Maddy's putting herself in even more danger.

I can't talk much about the mystery because that'll just spoil the whole thing.

Anyhow, the mystery was actually thrilling as Maddy discovers more evidence that leads to Chelsea Hannigan's disappearance. Although I must say I suspected the culprit from half of the book, I still enjoyed being surprised in the end.

IT ENDS WITH A CLIFFY WHICH IS WOW. I was like, "I KNEW IT! I KNEW THERE WAS MORE!" Because well… I'm not going to say anymore. ;)

Overall, a pretty damn great book.

MY RATING:
3.5 — 4 APPLES!!!!!
