REVIEW: His Risk to Take (Line of Duty #2) – Tessa Bailey

Released: July 23rd, 2012

A sexy category romance from Entangled's Brazen imprint...

The greater the risk, the hotter the reward…

Homicide cop Troy Bennett had a reputation on the Chicago PD for being fearless and in control—until the night his daredevil partner is killed during a raid. From that moment on, he swears he’ll never again be responsible for the loss of a loved one. To escape his demons, Troy transfers to the NYPD, bringing him up close and personal with Ruby Elliott, a beautiful, street-savvy pool hustler.

Reckless and stubbornly independent, Ruby embodies everything Troy’s avoiding, but when she walks into O’Hanlon’s Pub and blows his carefully laid plans to hell, Troy knows he has to have her—risks be damned. But there’s a connection between Ruby’s shadowed past and a case Troy’s working involving a notorious Brooklyn felon, throwing her safety into jeopardy. Confronted with his biggest fear, will Troy push Ruby away to keep her safe or fight to keep her in his arms where she belongs?
“Look we're both stubborn hotheads, and we're going to fight. Early and often. But I will never make it more than one block before I come back.”
This short novel was hilarious and sweet and HOT AS HELL. Ruby and Troy’s chemistry was off the charts. If it had been trapped in a box, it would probably have burst from all the excitement and intensity. Fantastic!

Their story was pretty short but it was super fucking hot. I read the first book around a year or two years ago and I remember it being so freaking smoking. The sex? FUCKING CRAZY.

Troy moved from Chicago to join the NYPD after a certain case left him plagued with emotions he did not want to have. So he took off and is starting fresh, planning to just focus on his career. Until Ruby Elliot walked into his life.

Ruby was a hustler. She wasn’t born into the white picket fence kind of house and instead was taught how to survive in the real world. But, like Troy, she wanted a fresh start and wanted to get on with her life and do real, actual work.

When their worlds collide, everything changed. Suddenly, the future that they had planned so thoroughly is changed bit by bit as they start to invade – in a good way – each other’s personal space.

I absolutely loved the book. I just wished that they had more time to develop or at least increase their connection so we could see how strong their bond was.

MY RATING:
3.5 – 4 APPLES!!!!!
