REVIEW: Fighting to Forgive (Fighting #2) – J.B. Salsbury

Released: November 19th, 2013

What do you do when everything you avoid, turns out to be exactly what you need?

Easy and predictable, just the way he likes it, Blake Daniels flies through life the way he burns through women: on his terms, no regrets.

With his fighting career in full swing, he's on the threshold of title contention. But when his training is compromised by injury, the stakes grow impossibly higher. The rage that fuels his punches also chips away at his focus, and he risks losing everything he cares about.

He won’t let that happen. Not again.

Layla’s through with men. After a marriage that never should’ve happened, she hopes to reclaim the pieces of the woman she lost years ago.

Emotional abuse has left her insecure and terrified. A master at faking what she’s not feeling, she masks her self-doubt in false confidence.

She’ll never let another man hurt her. Not again.

Chased by shadows of the past, Blake and Layla know what they don’t want, but their hearts have a different plan. As a web of lies and betrayal threatens to destroy them, they’re forced to make a choice.

Is love enough to heal even the deepest wounds?

Or will they be left Fighting to Forgive?
"Being so in love with someone that you don't know where you start and they end. Joy over the idea of a new life, a living breathing, physical manifestation of the love you share for one another."
If you loved Jonah in Fighting for Flight, then you're going to fall head over heels for Blake in Fighting to Forgive. A love that blooms between two broken people, chased by their pasts. The way they overcame their struggles and forced their way through, wanting to change for the better for one another. Such a fantastic book!

Blake Daniels was holy shit. I mean, Jonah's hot and God, I love that man to bits but Blake also won my heart here with his protective nature and, of course, those hints of alpha in him ;)

He's one of my favorite book boyfriends ever. Helloooo, he's such a cutie even though he was kind of a douche to her at first but what guy isn't? Then when he slowly gets to know her and falls for her? BAM! HOLY SHIT!!!
"One more word about my woman being anything other than perfect, I'll break your fucking neck."
Not to mention, he's a fucking UFL FIGHTER!!! I can just imagine those ripples on his abs. Layla, you lucky girl you.

Then there's also Layla. She's so fucking sweet and I love how she tries so hard to protect her daughter from the dangers of the outside world. Although sometimes she can be a bit blind to her surroundings when it comes to dealing with kids. Layla was caught off-guard with what happened in her life and that's why she became more secluded and protective of herself and her daughter.

However, the introduction of Blake Daniels to her life changed all that.

Blake slowly taught her to live life again. To love. To never, ever give up. And those are the kinds of romances I love: when one changes the other for the better. It isn't fucking love if it's only going to be destructive instead of constructive.

And Layla didn't believe that she could finally get her happily ever after. She thought that she deserved all the bad shit that life threw at her and merely accepted it.

“I’m great, I was just dreaming.”
“Dreaming?” I drop a kiss to the tip of her nose and then her lips. “You’re not asleep.”
A shaky smile pulls at her lips. “Yeah, that’s the best part.”
BRILLIANT! Fucking genius line!

There's not only swoon-worthy romance but also heart-stopping suspense and super-duper-schmexy sex! It's a fantastic combination of everything I want in a romance book!

MY RATING:
4.5 APPLES!!!!!
