[Review] My Life Next Door - Huntley Fitzpatrick

Released: June 14th, 2012

The Garretts are everything the Reeds are not. They're loud, messy, numerous and, most importantly, affectionate. Every day, seventeen year-old Samantha Reed watches them from her balcony perch, defying her mother's wishes (of course, her mother isn't aware of this). Wishing that she was one of them. It all changes when, one summer evening, Jase Garrett appears on her terrace.

As their relationship develops, so do the problems. Her sister is spending her summer with her boyfriend while Samantha is left to deal with her mother and her sudden newfound 'lover'. Samantha senses a negativity in her gut by decides that it's for her mother's happiness.

Then, out of nowhere, a conflicting issue surfaces. She is unexpectedly faced with an impossible decision. Which perfect family will save her? Or is it time to save herself?

Huntley Fitzpatrick's debut novel was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. When I read the blurb, to tell you the truth, I thought it wasn't interesting at first but since the goodreads rating was pretty high, I thought, "Hey, why the hell not?" I'm honestly so glad that I decided to give it a try. This book explores themes about family, friendship, first loves, loyalty and how to be true to the people you love yet still having faith in what you truly believe in. It's a beautiful book with such alluring and interesting characters.

Wow, the characters were just wow. I honestly, truly, genuinely loved every single one of them. They were funny, interesting and just different. Jase. OH JASE GARRETT. He definitely makes it to my top list of book boyfriends. He was just the cutest little asshat out there. Well, I don't really mean that he's an asshat but he was really sweet to Sam and alwekrwlejr FEELS. He's one of those characters I can fall in love with a million times. He was flawless with his loyalty and consideration for his family and his love for Samantha.

Samantha Reed is everything I want to be (her name's the same as mine teehee). She is beautiful yet she's so smart and strong. I love how she knows how to stand up for what she believes in. She's tough but she's not impulsive and reckless. After going through so much with everyone she knows, she's somehow still standing so damn strong. I admire everything about her.

MY RATING:

5 FRESH DELICIOUS APPLES!!!

About The Author:

Huntley Fitzpatrick attended Concord Academy and Yale. She grew up in a family of bookworms, where everyone always had a book in their hands. She's written one book so far (My Life Next Door) and has a book that's expected to be released in 2014.  She's, as I quote her, a 'babbler' but also often shy and tongue-tied.

Waiting on Wednesday: One Tiny Lie - K.A. Tucker and Forever Too Far - Abbi Glines

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine to spotlight releases that we're looking forward to! Here are my choices this week...

One Tiny Lie - K.A. Tucker

Title: One Tiny Lie
Author: K.A. Tucker
Is it a sequel? Yes. To Ten Tiny Breaths.
Release Date: June 11th, 2013
Synopsis from Goodreads:
Livie has always been the stable one of the two Cleary sisters, handling her parents' tragic death and Kacey's self-destructive phase with strength and maturity. But underneath that exterior is a little girl hanging onto the last words her father ever spoke to her. "Make me proud," he had said." She promised she would...and she's done her best over the past seven years with every choice, with every word, with every action.

Livie walks into Princeton with a solid plan, and she's dead set on delivering it: Rock her classes, set herself up for medical school, and meet a good, respectable guy that she's going to someday marry. What isn't part of her plan are Jell-O shots, a lovable, party animal roommate she can't say 'no' to, and Ashton, the gorgeous captain of the men's rowing team. Definitely him. He's an arrogant ass who makes Livie's usually non-existent temper flare and everything she doesn't want in a guy. Worse, he's best friends and roommates with Connor, who happens to fit Livie's criteria perfectly. So why does she keep thinking about Ashton?

As Livie finds herself facing mediocre grades, career aspirations she no longer thinks she can handle, and feelings for Ashton that she shouldn't have, she's forced to let go of her last promise to her father and, with it, the only identity that she knows.

My Comments:
EEEEEEP! I AM WAY TOO EXCITED FOR THIS. K.A. Tucker's Ten Tiny Breaths was absolutely amazing and beautiful. I loved the story, the characters, everything! This sequel is one of my most anticipated books this year and it's about Kacey's sister, Livie. SO EXCITED! :D

and also... *drum rolls*

Forever Too Far - Abbi Glines

Title: Forever Too Far
Author: Abbi Glines
Is it a sequel? Yes. To Fallen Too Far and Never Too Far.
Release Date: June 10th, 2013
Synopsis from Goodreads:
Rush promised her forever...but promises can be broken.

Torn between his love for his family and his love for blaire, Rush has to find a way to save one without losing the other. In the end, one has to be more important. Letting go isn't easy.

Blaire believed in her fairytale...but no one can live in a fantasy.

Her love for Rush and desire to have a family keep her believing that they can find a way for this to work. Until she has to make the right decision for her and the baby. Even if it breaks her heart.

Can they find the forever that they both want or has it all just gone...too far?

My Comments:
IT'S COMING! IT'S COMING! The third book to Abbi Glines' bestselling series. I am eagerly anticipating to read about Rush and Blaire's relationship in the third book and it seems as if there's going to be even more drama int this one! Their relationship is smokin hot!

[Review] Rock With Me - Kristen Proby

Released: May 1st, 2013

Leo Nash is the front man for the world-famous rock band, Nash. He's the last person that Samantha Williams would trust. Loving a celebrity is a been-there, done-that, never-going-back kind of thing for her. She isn't going to sign up for another round.

Every time Sam turns on her sassy attitude with Leo, he can't help but want to knock that snarkiness right out off her. He's not used to women treating him the way Sam does, and he isn't about to let her get away with it. He's lost enough people from his life to let Sam run away. When this one runs, he gives a chase. But, catching her isn't as hard as he thought.

The sexual attraction between them could put the layers of encyclopedias to shame. There's no way she can deny herself the promise of pleasure Leo can bring.

But pleasure is always followed by pain, and when secrets are revealed, their trust is challenged.

First things first. They have sex. Smoking, freaking hot sex. And a lot of it. This is a warning to those young readers who can't take sex scenes. Rock With Me is one of those books that focus mostly on the end-result of their relationship instead of the development. I've always loved Kristen Proby's writing style. It's easy to understand and it's captivating. The characters were undeniably well-written and the sex was just bloody motherfucking hot. One gif to sum it up:

Leo fucking Nash. He could melt ice cube on a stove just by standing a few meters away from it. He's undeniably hot, just the right amount of cocky. He could charm the mountains and the seas, as he is also the sweetest damn bastard out there. He was so concerned and attentive towards Sam that I found it so endearing.

Samantha Williams is wow. She's sexy, intelligent, tough and, God, I just really, really loved her character. She loves her family to bits and we could see how loyal and considerate she was towards them. She's independent and strong. But she also has that sweet, needy side to her around Leo, which i found so adorable.

MY RATING:

3 SEXY APPLES!!! if apples could be sexy

About The Author:

Kristen Proby is the author of the Amazon and USA Today bestselling series, With Me in Seattle. She absolutely adores a good love story with tough characters who are humorous and loyal.  She loves her alpha men ands strong, fun ladies. On her normal days, she would spend them with her muse in the Pacific Northwest, while also enjoying coffee, chocolate, sunshine and, especially, naps.

NEW RELEASES: Faking It and Entwined With You

EEEK! So today is the fourth and two of the books I've been dying for are finally released! HERE THEY ARE!

Faking It - Cora Carmack

Title: Faking It
Author: Cora Carmack
Synopsis from Goodreads:
Mackenzie "Max" Miller has a problem. Her parents have arrived in town for a surprise visit, and if they see her dyed hair, tattoos, and piercings, they just might diown her. Even worse, they're expecting to meet a nice, wholesome boyfriend, not a guy named Mace who has a neck tattoo and plays in a band. All her lies are about to come crashing down around her, but then she meets Cade.

Cade moved to Philadelphia to act and to leave his problems behind in Texas. So far though, he's kept the problems and had very little opportunity to take the stage. When Max approaches him in a coffee shop with a crazy request to pretend to be her boyfriend, he agrees to play the part. But when Cade plays the role a little too well, they're forced to keep the ruse going. And the more fake the relationship, the more real it begins to feel.

My Comments:

CADE AND MAX ARE HERE! I've been looking forward to this book OHMYGOD. Losing It by Cora Carmack was an awesome debut novel and I adored Garrick and Bliss. Now it's about Cade. Guys, it's Cade. I loved his character so much in the previous book so I'm definitely interested in his love story!

and not only that...

Entwined With You - Sylvia Day

Title: Entwined With You
Author: Sylvia Day
Synopsis from Goodreads:

The worldwide phenomenon continues as Eva and Gideon face the demons of their pasts and accept the consequences of their obsessive desires...

From the moment I first met Gideon Cross, I recognized something in him that I needed. Something I couldn't resist. I saw the dangerous damaged soul inside - so much like my own. I was drawn to it. I needed him as surely as I needed my heart to beat.

No one knows how much he risked for me. How much I'd been threatened, or just how dark and desperate the shadow of our pasts would become.

Entwined by our secrets, we tried to defy the odds. We made our own rules and surrendered completely to the exquisite power of possession...

My Comments:

YUM! Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back the one and only, GIDEON CROSS! Oh how I've missed his overbearing and charming personality. This books sounds so dramatic and suspenseful! I cannot wait to get started on this book. Bared to You and Reflected in You were so damn good!

[Review] Beauty From Pain - Georgia Cates

Released: January 29th, 2013

Jack McLachlan is easily one of Australia's most eligible bachelors. His success and wealth, not to mention the addition of his dashing good looks, makes it complicated for him to have romantic relationships. Therefore, he goes into extreme measures to avoid all those difficulties. He prefers the no-strings-attached relationships. He arranges them like business deals and they're always the same. No long term relationships. No real names.

Everything is based on his rules until the lovely Laurelyn Prescott, an up and coming American musician, enters his life. He doesn't realize that he's delving into a much deeper and emotion-filled relationship within their three-month affair. Nothing goes according to plan as he breaks more and more of his own rules for her. This may be it for him. She was his game changer. But could they really survive the pressure?

Georgia Cates absolutely BLEW ME AWAY with this book. Their romance, their whole freaking relationship! God, I'm completely in love with all of the characters and it was just such a sweet and romantic book. Trust me, you cannot put this book down once you've started. This easily falls into one of my top favorites!

Jack was wow. He was just wow. Honestly, he was so sweet and considerate (even though he can be such an idiot at times). God, I loved his character and he was so freaking hot and intelligent. HE WAS SMART! Well, smart as in he knows his stuff about wines. And in the end, OH GOD IN THE END *swoons* he is just such a sweetheart.

While Laurelyn is a tough chica from the states. She was talented honestly and I love her raspy voice. I mean, that's just sexy! She's hot, she's smart, she's a musician plus she pole dances *winks* Though really I loved her character throughout the book because she's not one of those oh-look-hot-billionaire-swoons and falls straight into his arms.

I didn't know I was walking into a cliffhanger when I started the book so by the end I was just like...
At least now the second book's out so I can't wait to dive into it! :D
NOTE: They have a lot of sex. So, readers who don't like erotica, you have been warned.

MY RATING:

4.5 APPLES!!!

[Review] Dare You To - Katie McGarry

Released: May 28th, 2013

Beth Risk would do anything for her mother. Even if it means taking the fall for something she didn't do, and ending up in jail. She has always been the one responsible for her mother. This all changes the day her uncle swoops in, after abandoning her for so long, and forces her to choose between her mom and her own happiness. So, Beth finds herself trapped in a new life in a new city, where her aunt doesn't want her and where she goes to a school where no one understands her. Except for the one guy who shouldn't get her but does.

Ryan Stone has always been the perfect guy. He's the town's golden boy, a baseball star jock. You know, the popular kid. But he has secrets that he can't tell anyone. That includes his friends he shares everything with. He does dares with his friends all the time until they put the craziest one up: to ask out the Skater girl who couldn't be less interested in him.

What begins as a dare evolves into an intense attraction neither of them expected. Suddenly, the flawless boy risks everything he has for the girl he loves, and the girl who has walls as high as mountains is letting herself slowly fall...

This is another heartwarming and oh-so-romantic book by Katie McGarry. She brings us the sequel to Noah and Echo's story in Pushing The Limits with Beth and Ryan. I absolutely loved the book although, at times, I fell out of love with the characters. In my own personal opinion, the book reflects on how most teenagers act and think these days, how we can be impulsive, considerate, reckless. How we are just a big mash of emotions. I was sort of torn between really, really loving this book and sort of disliking it at some parts. Overall, it was a great book honestly.

Onto the characters then. Ryan started out horribly at first but that was his character. He was supposed to be the stereotypical jerk-slash-jock. But as the story unfolds, I fell irrevocably in love with Ryan. With his strength and determination. I mean, it takes a real man (and a lot of hard work) to put up with Beth. He was charming, tenacious, sweet.

On the other hand, Beth is almost the complete opposite. She's the entire blend of badass, stubborn, strong, sassy and vulnerable. I loved Beth initially because we can see how much she truly cared for her mom. But then I began to dislike her when she got just a little tiny bit reckless. In the end, I loved the character again.

MY RATING:

4 APPLES!!!
