BOOK TOUR: A Little Too Far - Lisa Desrochers + REVIEW, GIVEAWAY & EXCERPT!!!

Released: September 17th, 2013

Have you ever gone just a little too far?

Lexie Banks has.

Yep. She just had mind-blowing sex with her stepbrother. in her defense, she was on the rebound, and it's more of a my-dad-happened-to-marry-a-woman-with-a-super-hot-son situation. But still, he's been her best friend and confidant for better part of the last few years… and is so off limits. It's a good thing she's leaving in two days for a year abroad in Rome. But even thousands of miles away, Lexie can't seem to escape trouble. Raised Catholic, she goes to Confession in hopes of alleviating some of her guilt… and maybe not burning in hell. Instead, she stumbled out of the confessional right into Alessandro Moretti, a young and very easy on the eyes deacon… only eight months away from becoming a priest. Lexie and Alessandro grow closer, and when Alessandro's signals start changing despite his vow of celibacy, she doesn't know what to think. She's torn between falling in love with the man she shouldn't want and the man she can't have. And she isn't sure how she can live with herself either way.

Warning: Do not read if you're uncomfortable with stepbrother/stepsister situations and if you're a hardcore Catholic kind of thing.

"Passion can sometimes bring out qualities in a person that they never knew they possessed."
AW YES! This book was freaking awesome. I really, really loved every bit of it (aside from some minor things). God, it was so sexy and funny, totally taboo for both guys (which makes it even hotter!). The writing style was awesome, the settings, story and characters were clearly well-developed. Beautiful!

When I started this book, I couldn't put it down. A Little Too Far impressed me with the fantastic and completely inappropriate, which makes it even more sexy, storyline and the beautifully and well developed characters. It was sinfully sexy and unbelievably addicting. Hook, line and sinker.

There's the whole story about what's right and what's wrong in the book so I'm suggesting that if you're a hardcore, religious Catholic/Christian, don't read it. I'm a Christian but I never bring God into the books I read. Books are books for me.

Lexie definitely makes it to my top list of heroines, maybe not on the top but one of the top. She was fun and sweet. She's fucking intelligent about art history and the way she fangirls over art is just hilarious. I like how the author made her fear of heights so believable, because in some stories, they just suck. They don't even make it seem like they're really scared of heights. And then I love how she's trying to be honorable about the whole Trent thing and then about Alessandro.

And when she got to Rome and started rambling out all the sins she's done?
"I accuse myself of the following sins. I… used the Lord's name in vain at least… oh, God– Like that… i just don't think about it and it comes out of my mouth. I've done it thousands of times. Maybe a million. Twice just since I walked into the church."
It's so hilarious how she went on and on and on about her sins because she's always been brought up a Catholic but then she's had sex with her boyfriend and then Trent. Well.

But then with Trent it's different. She loves Trent definitely in more than a brotherly way. And shit, when they had sex? MIND-FUCKING-BLOWING. Even after the sex!
As I slip past him, his towel comes untucked. In the second before he grabs it and tucks it back around him, i catch a glimpse of his enormous erection. And, God, help me, I'm dripping wet. I press my palm against him through the towel.
GUESS HOW HE REACTED TO THAT???
He closes his eyes and blows out a shaky breath. "Why can't I stop wanting you?"

In one deft motion, he spins me against the wall and slides my thong down. I kick it off and wrap my legs around his waist as he presses me between his rock-hard body and the wall. He crushes his mouth to mine, and his tongue slashes between my lips and takes possession of me.
Holy. Fucking. Shit.

THEN THERE'S SWOON-SWORTHY, PANTIES-DROPPING ALESSANDRO MORETTI!

He is just so unbelievably hot okay I can't even breathe. He's so freaking sexy and sweet and just awerlkawrlkjwr I LOVE HIM.

If I say any more about him, I'd be spoiling the whole book so basically, get it! Read it! Love it! ;)

OH! And let's not forget about Horny Boy in front of her apartment and Grandma Moses. They were fucking hilarious.
"Facciamo ballare il tuo letto stanotte, gnocca!" he calls up to me. My eyes widen as he unzips his pants and pulls out his junk.
Fuck, omfg, I love this kid so much.

Anyways, I really liked the book and I'd definitely recommend it! I was so close to giving it a 5 until the disappointing ending. It wasn't about her choices, I hated how it was so rushed.

Minor Faults:
  • The ending was way too rushed and it was like they were acting on impulse, which sucks for me tbh

HOLY FREAKING CRAP!!!

Since I've got a list of books I've been looking forward to this year, I know that I'm super excited that THREE books are coming out today, so I just have to announce it here! ;)

All of You by Christina Lee

Avery has just met her hot upstairs neighbor. He's irresistible. Tattooed. And a virgin.

Nursing student Avery Michaels wants nothing to dating–she's perfectly happy single. Privy to too many of her mother's bad decisions and even worse taste in boyfriends, all Avery can handle is a string of uncomplicated hookups whenever the mood strikes.

When she meets smoking hot tattoo artist Bennett, she wants him–for just one night. But he won't accept a no-strings-attached arrangement. He lives by a straight-laced code of values based on his own troubled upbringing.

Bennett sees something special in Avery and he wants more from her. Way more. As Avery wrestles with her emotions for Bennett, danger and tragedy force them to open up to each other. And Avery must face the terrifying realization that she wants more from him, too.
So she needs to make a choice – let Bennett go or finally let him in.

I forgot where I found this book from but when I saw it, I immediately went to Goodreads and clickety clicked that "Want to Read" button! I mean, HELLOOOO! A hot tattoo artist, who – oddly enough – is the one who wants to commit! Hot damn, I'm super excited to get my hands on this baby.

AAAH! Super excited to read this book because of The Siren actually. Thinking about how taboo it is to be a relationship with a priest, or in this case a soon-to-be priest, is hot! I loved Søren in The Original Sinners series and I'm pretty sure I will LOVE Alessandro ;) I received a copy from the author and I will have a book tour stop on the 19th, so check it out :D
Covet by Tracey Garvis-Graves
What if the life you wanted, and the woman you fell in love with, belonged to someone else?

Chris and Claire Canton's marriage is on life support. Downsized during the recession and out of work for a year, Chris copes by retreating to a dark place where no one can reach him, not even Claire. When he's offered a position that will keep him away from home four nights a week, he dismisses Claire's concern that time apart could be the one thing their fragile union can't weather. Their suburban life may look idyllic on the outside, but Claire has never felt so disconnected from Chris, or so lonely.

Local police officer Daniel Rush used to have it all, but now he goes home to an empty house every night. He pulls Claire over during a routine traffic stop, and they run into each other again at the 4th of July parade. When Claire is hired to do some graphic design work for the police department, her friendship with Daniel grows, and soon they're spending hours together.

Claire loves the way Daniel makes her feel, and the way his face lights up when she walks into the room. Daniel knows that Claire's marital status means their relationship will never be anything other than platonic. But it doesn't take long before Claire and Daniel are in way over their heads, and skating close to the line that Claire has sworn she'll never cross.

I've heard so many good things about Ms. Tracey Garvis-Graves' writing so I'm excited to try this one out! I bought On The Island but I still haven't found the time to read it with my keep-adding-up to-reads list. I freaking hope this would be as good as people say it is :)

BOOK TOUR: Friday Afternoon - Sylvia Ryan + REVIEW, GIVEAWAY & EXCERPT!!!

Released: September 2nd, 2013

Before kids and the responsibility of life, Levi and I shared a spontaneous, erotic, and deliciously deviant marriage. Years transformed what we had into something comfortable and worn. It hurts me to think his desire for me has cooled. I miss that look of his. Slightly evil and totally hot, like he wanted to devour me. Haven't seen it in ages.

When I first married Mia, she submitted to every one of my erotic needs, then came the children. With little complaint, I abandoned my pursuit of kink, content to be married to a beautiful, intelligent woman who's a great mother to our twins. Out of the blue, Mia confesses she misses the intimacy in our marriage, misses the sex. After this enticing revelation, my plan to reconnect with her unfolds.

In our secret, kinky, Friday afternoon meetings I'm going to give her everything she wants and take everything I need. Will this be the answer to fixing our marriage?

Warning: This title is intended for readers over the age of 18 as it contains explicit sex scenes and/or situations (including BDSM/light bondage) and adult language, and may be considered offensive to some readers.

**COPY PROVIDED BY THE AUTHOR/CBLS PROMOTIONS**
"I don't want to have to tell you how to love me. I jsut want you to want me. I want our sex life back. I want to feel special to you. I don't want to just know I'm loved, I want to feel it."
HOLY MAMA! Now this is one super shemxy, sizzling read! Friday Afternoon follows Mia and Levi's relationship as they try to reconnect and rebuild their once smoking relationship that had fizzled down. Now, they spend every Friday afternoon testing each other's limits and finally grilling that love back.

Mmm, I want me some Levi. He's a hot daddy who's still a dominant.
"I read several articles [on BDSM] and I see why Levi's attracted to this dynamic. It fits his personality. He's uberdominant."
In the beginning, he seems like an average dad whose relationship had no more sparks but then, when he gets his sex life back up, he becomes his ubersexy dominant in the bedroom.

Dayumm, baby, dayumm. Oh, since this was pretty short, my review will be pretty short too hehe but still, READ THE BOOK SINCE IT'S SMOKIN'!!!

And then I can totally relate to Mia when she said:
"It's one of the things that attracted me to him in the first place. I don't like wishy-washy indecision in men. The strong confidence consistent with these Doms correlates with Levi's personality."
Well, I'll be damned. That's like my type in a phrase. God, that's why I super love those alpha males in books because they don't beat around the bush. They're confident in their skin (well, they're hot so it's hard not to be) and they know what they want. They don't try to bullshit. They just go out and say it. MY TYPE OF MAN!

Basically, super awesome sexy erotica! A good read for you hidden or not-so-hidden BDSM lovers out there!

Minor Faults:
  • I wish that the author would develop more on the romance rather than only focusing on the sex

MY RATING:

3 GIMME-LEVI APPLES!!!!!

EXCERPT:

I slip out of bed quietly and enter the large walk-through closet and dressing anteroom to the master bathroom space, locking the door behind me. An anguished huff of air rushes out as I sit on the tiny stool in front of my vanity and twirl a half circle, facing myself in the mirror.

The overhead lighting is stark and unforgiving. I’m not the young woman I was a year, or five, ago. I’ve tried as hard as I can to forget I’m closer to forty than I am to thirty.

When I linger long enough to take inventory of myself, like now, I discern more of the slight lines making their home on my skin. I never notice them when I float through mornings, functioning on nothing but my first sips of caffeine. But now, at this moment, I see them as clear as day. I’m older, not sexy anymore, I suppose.

I swallow down the hurt. Levi used to look at me with hungry eyes, even when I was pregnant with twins and fat as a cow. Now the sight of me naked, whether it be coming out of the shower or spreading my legs beneath him, no longer draws interest from his cock. Tonight brought any speculation, any hope he’s still attracted to me, to an end.

I’m angry first and then sad as I realize I’ll never experience the twirl of excitement and shiver of anticipation from the expression of hunger on my husband’s face. That hasn’t happened for quite a while, and now I know for sure nobody will look at me with similar hunger again. I’m stunned, aware those intense desires go hand in hand with youth, new possibilities and new passions, and I’m faced with a blatant fact. That part of my relationship with Levi is long past.

Yet to my mind, there’s a lot of middle ground between being hungry with young love and being so indifferent you don’t get off anymore. It’s taken us exactly fifteen years to span from one end of the you-turn-me-on spectrum to the other. During the last decade, the progression of our sex life from brilliant to bland has been so infinitesimally small, it went mostly unnoticed until now.

I’m shaken. The sudden realization I’m not sexually exciting to my husband anymore and probably never will be again knocks me off my rails. I feel ill and wrap my arms around my waist and duck my head between my knees. I breathe deep and swallow repeatedly trying to allay the bile creeping up my esophagus. The repeated gulps also push the hurt away, staying the tears, leaving me whole enough to wonder how--when--this happened.

[Review] Find You in the Dark - A. Meredith Walters

Released: October 10th, 2012

Maggie Young had the market on normal. Normal friends, normal parents, normal grades… normal life.

Until him.

Clayton Reed was running from his past and an army of personal demons that threatened to take him down. He never thought he had a chance at happiness.

Until her.

Maggie thought their love could overcome anything. Clay thought she was all he needed to fix his messy life.

That together, they could face the world.

But the darkness is always waiting.

Sometimes the greatest obstacle to true love is within yourself.

"Sometimes, love can't make everything better, and the best thing for everyone is to walk away. No matter how much it may hurt."
So this was me in the beginning of the book:

And by the end?

Fuck, this was hands-down one of the most fucking depressing books I've ever read. It comes in second after The Bronze Horseman and it was like fuck fuckety fukerakwler fuck shit. God, I can't even explain myself in real words.

Find You in the Dark was deeply and powerfully emotional. The story swallows you deep into the world of Maggie Young's initially normal life into her story with destructive love, slowly-breaking relationships, and the heartbreaking process of having to sacrifice the person you love the most. It was so beautifully and painfully written that I just couldn't put it down.

Maggie Young had normal down to a T. She was sick of it. So when she literally bumps into Clay when he first arrived, it was like BAM! This was it. This was her way out of her endless boring cycle.
"They [her parents] were really nauseating at times, the way they were still so in love with each other. Though, deep down, i just wanted the same thing and I spent a lot of time freaking out that I would never find it. But that was a panic attack for another time."
She wanted an out out of normal and Clay was it. He was different. Dark and broody at first but then you quickly fall for his charms and witty remarks.

Maggie is also my kind of woman because she was a slight feminist. FUCK YES! I just felt like I could relate to Maggie a lot and that's why I absolutely fucking loved her character. I could empathize with all her feelings and thoughts. She was a feminist, she knows how boring normal is, she wants an escape from her regular routine, she wants to fall in love, and then she knows what it's like to be consumed by love. This is my life, ladies and gents.
"What was with the whole sufferage thing and the entire push for gender equality if we still have to bow down to gender stereotypes?"
And then there's Clay.
God, I cried for him the whole time. I couldn't help it. I know that I should never pity someone but then fuckkkk, Clay was just lawkejralwkejr. He was honestly so perfect. He was funny, sweet and thoughtful. But then because of his _____, which I will not spoil, he becomes so confusing and frustrating. I felt horrible for both of them because they had such a cataclysmic relationship. It was like a ticking time-bomb.
Maggie: "What is it?"
Clay: "I love you so much. Sometimes it hurts."
Maggie: "I don't want it to hurt, Clay. Our love should make you feel wonderful."
This was basically a summary of their whole relationship. They loved each other so fucking much that they ended up needing each other, especially Clay. Clay is so dependent on Maggie and because of _____, he fucks things up sometimes but then he apologizes. It was like a miserable cycle for them both. They both suffered despite the feelings they had for each other.

They were best friends first and then they were lovers. Maggie truly cares about Clay but he seems so intent on believing that he really does need Maggie to live. It's like she was literally his air.
"When you're in a room, Maggie, all I see is you. You make everything better. Clearer. You stop the crazy noise in my head. I can think, hell, I can breathe when we're together. What you make me feel is the most unbelievable and scary thing I've ever felt."
AND FREAK!!!!!!!!! I loved the ending, despite it not being a 'happily ever after' kind of thing (but there's a sequel YAY!). It's sort of a closure for them both even though they still love each other, they're finally trying to move on with their lives and trying to fix what's wrong.

Minor Faults:
  • I know it's because of Clay's issues but God, it can get annoying sometimes, but well I sympathize y'know.

MY RATING:

4 TAKE-ME-NOW-PLS APPLES!!!!!
I was close to giving it a 4.5 but ehh. Between 4 - 4.5
