BLOG TOUR: Love of a Rockstar – Nicole Simone + Review & Luke's POV excerpt!

Released: June 28th, 2014

Marlene Parker thought she met her soul mate at eighteen but when he left her pregnant and alone to pursue a life of rock n roll, she vowed to never love again. Now four years later, she is being offered the dream of a lifetime. Moving to France with her daughter to start anew. There is only one problem. Marlene’s formative ex is back in town, and his pull is strong as ever.

Luke Anderson has everything a man could want. Fame, fortune and enough beautiful women to last him a lifetime. That is until a young runaway shows him what is truly important. Family. A word in which plagues Luke with regret. As a scared twenty two year old he ran away from the love of his life and their unborn child. Now ready to reverse his biggest regret with only three days to do it, Luke’s fate hangs in the balance. The question is, will he be able to convince Marlene their love story deserves a second chance?
"I never thought our love story had an end."
*COPY PROVIDED BY AUTHOR FOR AN HONEST REVIEW*

Different from the usually extremely angsty rockstar novels, Love of a Rockstar takes on a lighter tone that tells the tale of the rekindling fire between Marlene, a single mother swamped with work and the heavy weight of a child, and Luke, the man who abandoned them to pursue his career. It was a quick, fun read and I definitely love me a rockstar.

Okay, let me start off with the good things.

I love Marlene, love this woman. She's strong, independent. She can be stubborn as hell. She's sometimes too driven by love. But the effort she puts in into raising Nil is just admirable. Marlene put everything she wanted aside to take care of her daughter first.

Then there's Luke. At first I thought he was a douche (and I still think that he didn't grovel enough), but then he became sweeter as he got along better with Nil and with Marlene. I mean, for fuck's sake, this guy abandoned his girlfriend when she got preggers. And she was going to go to LE CORDON BLEU!!! That's one of, if not the best, culinary school in the world.

But then yeah, well, they fuck up. They kiss, they make up. And the story goes.

Although I loved the characters dearly, there were some faults that I just couldn't let go.

First of all, Marlene, like what the hell? Do you have that little willpower? I get that you're in love with him, but he abandoned you for Christ's sake, at least try to keep your vagina controlled until you get your emotions under control. I expected her to be either a) super upset, crying and she kicks him like out of the house for at least a couple of days or b) confront him, yell at him, like really blow up on him then have hot makeup sex.

Then, Luke, he had some irrational anger scenes that I just wanted to smack him in and yell at him, "YOU DON'T DESERVE TO BE MAD!" But anyway, moving on.

If the book had more details into the relationship - or maybe alternated between two point of views -  we'd at least see more of Luke's feelings to see that he's really serious.

The grandma, I love though (even though the parallels between her relationship and Marlene's were just too improbable), her quotes! Especially these two:
"I believe in finding a man who can be your best friend, because once the lust fades, friendship is what will hold the foundation of your marriage together."
And ESPECIALLY this one:
"You young people all want to live in a romantic movie but life isn't like that. It's messy and at the end of the day you want your best friend at your side."
THIS! I'm just like, YES!

Great read!

3.5 - 4 APPLES!!!!!

Love of a Rockstar ♕
This isn't actually an excerpt from the novel but it's a scene written from Luke's POV! This is what we needed more throughout the novel. Nevertheless, enjoy!

I stepped out of the limo into the frigid Seattle air.  It had been almost four years since I came home and to be honest, my nerves were on edge.  My fans screamed wildly as I gave them a quick wave and hustled inside for warmth.  The elaborate entryway of the hotel reminded me how far I’d come since the beginning of my career.  Back when I was a broke ass musician, I slept in the van along with the rest of my band mates. Then again, we partied more than we slept. Alcohol kept my nightmares at bay and my emotions numb. That was in the past though; now, I was a new man, ready to face the consequences of my actions. My gaze landed on the receptionist desk where my manager said Marlene worked. Sure enough, there was a woman at the counter who looked like her but her hair was different.  Shorter, blunt at the edges with side swept bangs.  As if the woman could feel my eyes on her, she glanced up.  I knew it was Marlene by the shocked expression on her face. As if she was seeing a ghost.

Just to double check, I took a step closer. “M?”

At the term of endearment, her tooth snagged her bottom lip and that was all I needed. My heart turned over in my chest as I looked at the woman who had haunted my dreams.  Her face was the same, still uniquely beautiful.  However, being a mother brought out an inner glow.  Like the first time I saw Marlene, it was as if I was staring at the sun. Happiness warmed my soul. It was obvious she didn’t feel the same.  Her wide-eyed stare turned into one of panic and my gut told me she was about to bolt.  Quickly, I strode over but it was too late.

I held out my hand to stop her. “Wait,” I yelled.

Marlene’s long leg’s sprinted toward the women’s restroom where she disappeared inside. I knew I should have told her I was in Seattle instead of surprising her. My manager clasped her hand on my shoulder.

“What are you staring at?” She asked.

My eyes willed for the door to open and for Marlene to re-emerge. I was borderline desperate to hear her musical voice again.

“This time she was the one who ran away.” I murmured

I heard a smile in my manager’s voice. “So what are you going to do?”

“I’m going to wait.”

Four years ago, I walked out on the family I could have had. It would take a miracle for Marlene to forgive me and let me be a part of my daughter’s life.  Nonetheless, I was ready for the challenge.  They were everything I had left.

REVIEW: Rocked (Lost in Oblivion #1) – Taryn Elliot & Cari Quinn

Released: April 9th, 2014

Book 1 in the NA rock star series, Lost in Oblivion

Love definitely wasn't on the setlist.

Opening for their idols on their first tour, Oblivion is living the dream. Mostly. Frustrated at being shoved out of his mediator role by their new manager, Deacon McCoy loses himself in brutal workouts. He only comes up for air long enough to refuel—and to tease the deliciously cute chef who makes him crave a lot more than what she's offering on her serving plate.

As the child of roadie parents, Harper Pruitt has heard every pickup line twice. To her, musicians are one step above the scraps on her cutting board. All she wants is to get enough experience to run her own catering company, but Deacon and his bottomless stomach are too tempting to resist. He's far from the typical rock star and before long, she finds herself experimenting with him, inside and out of the kitchen.

Apron - and panties - optional.

When Harper sees that Deacon’s dream band with his best friends may be turning into a nightmare, she can't walk away. Deacon's so much more than just a peacemaker and the man behind the bass. But she has her own dreams to chase...even if she's starting to think what she's building with him might be the biggest one of all.
"Do you know how annoying it is to live for twenty-three years without needing anyone and have that completely obliterated in two months?"
**COPY PROVIDED BY AUTHOR FOR AN HONEST REVIEW**

Holy shit, Rocked most definitely rocked my world. The characters were fucking fantastic, both ambitious, practical and romantic. It was intense, fast-paced (in a good way) and it just progressed with more hot sex and even more saccharine sweet scenes. I absolutely loved it!

Shit, wow, this was another impressive rockstar romance. Wow. It just blew my mind.

You've got the assholes in a band, you've got the guys who can't put their dicks in their pants, and then you've got the logical, sweet ones. That's Deacon McCoy for you. Hot damn, this man can melt anyone's panties. He's big (both his package and his "package"), rational as he is the brains of the group, possessive, fantastic in bed, gives multiple orgasms, what more could you ask for?

Oh and did I mention he's a rockstar???

HOLY FUCK!!! Ugh, he's the bassist and he's so. fucking. hot. and. sweet. and. perfect. and. I just wanna eat him up. And he's so cute with Harper:
"Because foodgasms are personal, and I need to know who's giving me one."

That's such a weird gif but so damn accurate.

Anyway, then we've got Harper. I like this girl too. She's sassy, sweet, and she cooks! Don't go all sexist on me now. But seriously, she grew up with roadie parents and loved to travel. She was perfect to be one of the chefs to go on tour with Oblivion (how sexy is that band name?) and Rebel Rage. She can handle the rockstars that come with the package. But she did not expect Deacon.

Harper's had a plan that she's stuck to for the past God knows how many years. She knew what she wanted and she's going for it. But then Deacon entering her life somewhat wrecked her plans. She didn't think that the tour fling would turn into a forever kind of thing (hey that rhymed).

But they both knew the sizzling connection between them and, although Harper was initially in denial, they both managed to work it all out just fine. They have a sweet, funny kind of relationship and I love that!

“What? They were in my way. We have places to go.”
“I’d like to sign my first real contract before they put me in the grave.”
“And yet, you let me drive.”
“Obviously I have rain damage. Must be the lack of oxygen to my brain from all the orgasms.”
Then when he/she fucked up? This gif just looks so perfect.

But then you know I love my HEA's and I got that ;)

MY RATING:
4.75 – 5 APPLES!!!!!

BLOG TOUR: Rusty Nailed (Cocktail #2) – Alice Clayton + Review!

Released: June 24th, 2014

In this sequel to Wallbanger, the second book in the Cocktail series, fan favorites Caroline and Simon negotiate the rollercoaster of their new relationship while house-sitting in San Francisco.

Playing house was never so much fun—or so confusing. With her boss on her honeymoon, Caroline’s working crazy long hours to keep the interior design company running—especially since she’s also the lead designer for the renovation of a gorgeous old hotel on Sausalito. So with her hotshot photographer boyfriend gallivanting all over the world for his job, she and Simon are heavy-duty into “absence makes the heart grow fonder” mode. Neither has any complaints about the great reunion sex, though! Then Simon decides he’s tired of so much travelling, and he’s suddenly home more. A lot more. And wanting Caroline home more, too. Though their friends’ romantic lives provide plenty of welcome distraction, eventually Caroline and Simon have to sort their relationship out. Neither wants “out of sight, out of mind,” but can they create their own happy mid-ground cliché?

USA TODAY bestselling author Alice Clayton delivers another delicious, frothy cocktail of a book, shaking up her characters, stirring in laugh-out-loud humor, and serving sizzling romance straight up!
"But now, as I turned to look out over this quiet space, inside, full of nooks and crannies to nap and bathe and run and play, I realized that this was a great adventures as well."
*COPY PROVIDED BY AUTHOR FOR AN HONEST REVIEW*

Alice Clayton returns in Rusty Nailed with a hilarious novel starring our favorite duo – the smoking hot free-lance photographer, Simon "Wallbanger" Parker, and the fabulous, KitchenAid Mixer lover, Caroline Reynolds. Here, they face much more mature problems about commitment, relationships, friendships, and most importantly, the future. As the stakes are higher with their love for each other, they risk so much more to lose, but everything would be worth it in the end.

AAAAAH, HE'S BACK, LADIES!!! Goddamn, Lord knows I love how much I love my Wallbanger. Although I must admit it wasn't as funny as Wallbanger (because wow nothing can beat that, okay, like ever), but this sequel was just fantastic!

Simon is still same old, same old. But, of course, he matures significantly in this novel. We see as he faces his past once and for all and is getting ready to really build a life with Caroline. He becomes super sweet and even schmexier. Despite his maturity, he's still got his Wallbanger traits.

He bent over the back of the sofa inside my apartment and removed my panties. With his Teeth.
With his mother-loving teeth! I can’t even!
Romance novels, schmomance novels, here’s how Wallbanger does it.
Holy. Shit.

Yes, please, baby.

Anyway, while Simon's ready to settle down, Caroline's work is becoming more and more intense. Jillian's away on her undecided-end-date honeymoon, thus she is taking over for the meantime and that meant no more free-time, skipping lunches, and locking up the office everyday. With everything going on and Simon getting on her nerves (mainly because she panics in her head), Caroline becomes more worried with each day.

However, in spite of all their differences and conflicts, they're still the same couple we all know and love.

“Responsive, aren’t you?” he murmured, raising his head and wickedly licking his lips. I threaded my hands through his hair and not so gently pushed him back down.
“If you stop now I’ll kill you with this egg timer,” I managed.
Ah don't you feel the love in the air?

Novelist Alice Clayton makes her home in St. Louis where she enjoys gardening but not weeding, baking but not cleaning up after, and is trying desperately to get her long-time boyfriend to make her an honest woman–and please buy her a Bernese Mountain dog.
After working for years in the cosmetics industry as a makeup artist, esthetician, and educator, Alice picked up a pen (read laptop) for the first time at 33 to begin a new career: author. Having never written anything longer than a grocery list, she soon found writing to be the creative outlet she’d been missing since walking away from the theater 10 years before.

She has a great time combining her love of storytelling with a sense of silly, and she was shocked and awed to be nominated for a Goodreads Author award in 2010 for her debut novels, the first two installments of The Redhead Series–The Unidentified Redhead and The Redhead Revealed. Her latest novel Wallbanger is a return to her trademark comedic erotica, or funny smut, that Alice has become known for.

Additionally, Alice loves spending time with her besties on Not Your Mother’s Podcast (check them out on iTunes) and has recently partnered with actor Greg Grunberg, blogger Brittany Gibbons, and actress Keili Lefkovitz on a new travel show that will begin filming in January.

Alice enjoys pickles, Bloody Marys, eight hours of sleep and a good pounding.
