REVIEW: Fixed On You – Laurelin Paige

Released: June 22nd, 2013

Stalking and restraining orders are a thing of Alayna Wither’s past. With her MBA newly in hand, she has her future figured out—move up at the nightclub she works at and stay away from any guy who might trigger her obsessive love disorder. A perfect plan.

But what Alayna didn’t figure on is Hudson Pierce, the new owner of the nightclub. He’s smart, rich, and gorgeous—the kind of guy Alayna knows to stay away from if she wants to keep her past tendencies in check. Except, Hudson’s fixed his sights on her. He wants her in his bed and makes no secret of it.

Avoiding him isn’t an option after he offers a business proposition she can’t turn down and she’s drawn further into his universe, unable to resist his gravitational pull. When she learns Hudson has a dark history of his own, she realizes too late that she’s fallen for the worst man she could possibly get involved with. Or maybe their less than ideal pasts give them an opportunity to heal each other and finally find the love their lives have been missing.
"The magnitude of your importance in my life can't be put into words."

The characters were sexy as hell. The plotline so fucking addicting. I was crazy about this book. Alayna and Hudson are both perfectly imperfect characters. Their faults and mistakes are the reason that I'm so in love with them. This isn't about looking back into your past, this book is about trudging forward with your past holding onto you. But, hell, when you're with Hudson, you'll have a hell of a time doing that.
Shitttt. I heard so many good reviews about this book so I was like, "Hell, I'll give it a try." So I did after I got the book like half a year ago. But I'm glad I finally got around to reading it. I told my friend about this book and after she finished the first one, she instantly jumped into the second.

The book starts off with Alayna working at a bar. She's an intelligent, sexy young woman with a bright future ahead of her. Despite her troubling past. But she's so beautiful and actually smart, which is rare to find in books these days. A smart heroine who works for what she wants? YES PLEASE!

And I like how honest she is.
"I was attracted to him because he's hot. Though, I stayed with him because he's fucking awesome in bed."

Well said, Alayna, well said.

Then she meets this hot stranger at a bar who gives her this huge-ass tip. Who won't be curious with that? Turns out, he's her new boss!

Hudson Pierce. God, that name already screams sex. He's your average alpha male with the domineering and controlling personality and, of course, he's sinfully sexy. He's a man who doesn't take shit from anyone. He's a man with a dark past that he refuses to reveal. But, well, that makes him all the more intriguing.
"I apologize for overwhelming you. That wasn't my intent. But I want you to know that whether or not you decide to help with my situation, I will continue to seduce you. I'm a man who gets what he wants. And I want you."
HOT DAMN! I think I just wet my pants.

Really though, what I loved most about this book were their faults. It made them real. My friend found Alayna's stalking tendencies creepy. But, without it, the book just won't work. This is Alayna's hamartia and it's a pretty damn cool that she has one. I didn't want the characters to be those flawless ones that no one can relate to. That's why I was obsessed with them.

The only problems I had with this book were: a) it was a bit too fast-paced, I was hoping that it'd take longer time for them to fall in love and b) the ENDING!!! I wanted it to be more climatic and intense.

But, otherwise, such a great read! I loved it!

MY RATING:

4 APPLES!!!!!

USA Today Bestselling author Laurelin Paige is a sucker for a good romance and gets giddy anytime there’s kissing, much to the embarrassment of her three daughters. Her husband doesn’t seem to complain, however. When she isn’t reading or writing sexy stories, she’s probably singing, watching Mad Men and the Walking Dead, or dreaming of Adam Levine. She is represented by Bob Diforio of D4EO Literary Agency.
