[Review] Paris Love Match - Nigel Blackwell

Released: May 2nd, 2013

Piers Chapman had seen Paris,

In pictures,
In movies,
In books.
What he hadn't seen was the mobster.
Or the dictator.
Or the trained killers.
Or the diamonds they were chasing.
But it was Paris,
The city of light,
The city of love.
And a girl had already stolen his heart.
What could possibly go wrong?

"Paris is not a city. It's an idea, a dream, a hope."

I judged this book too fast from the cover. I thought, hey, that's a gorgeous cover! Then I read the blurb, I was like, whoa, this looks amazing! And then I read it. I'm so sorry to say that this book was just such a disappointment to me. I was looking forward to diving into this book, expecting it to be action-packed, smoking hot, intense, and also romantic. Unfortunately it was neither of those. The characters were okay overall, even though the idea of the plot was great! The book actually started out pretty good with somewhat hilarious banter, the incident that triggered everything else, and the chase. But then it just had a major downfall. I don't know what happened but there was no suspense in the action, no chemistry in the romance. Nada. The only thing that saved this book was the ending, which I liked because Piers was clever and it was pretty tense.

Now, let's start with the character I really loved. Piers Chapman. He was so damn adorable! He was awkward and odd, but also very intelligent. He's a freaking programmer for goodness' sake. But I really liked his character. He was really peculiar in a way, not the stereotypical heroes I usually see in books who were cocky and confident. Yes, he was pretty fit but he was so awkward. His easily-embarrassed personality is definitely refreshing.

Onto the character that I absolutely loathed. Sidney pissed the fuck out of me. She was annoying as hell. I mean, Piers was really considerate towards her, he thought of her for everything. But did she care? No, she was a selfish bitch. What I didn't get was how they didn't notice that they were being tracked from the dead guy's cell phone? I mean, obviously. I don't know, I'm just really angry with her. Sidney underestimated Piers and then there was no sign of romance at all. Suddenly, BAM! They like each other? Bitch please.

MY RATING:

2 AND A HALF APPLES!!!!

[Review] Relentless - Cassia Leo

Released: February 22nd, 2013

Claire Nixon is a twenty-year-old college dropout with a secret.

To Claire, Adam Parker is just another flirty customer at the cafe, until a chance encounter and seemingly innocent comment spurs a bet between them. The bet is simple: If Adam can get Claire to reveal the secret that made her drop out of college, she has to re-enroll. If he doesn't succeed, she gets to keep her secret and he has to stop stalking her at the cafe.

Claire thinks she has this one in the bag. She's perfected the art of forgetting her past. But she isn't prepared for Adam's relentless pursuit or for him to share his own secrets. And she's definitely not prepared for her rock star ex, and her secret, to come banging down her door one year later.

"I'm beginning to understand that we all must be walking around with secrets that eat away at us, driving us to do foolish things in the name of keeping those secrets buried."

The book was honestly a pretty great read. It was pretty funny and quite easy to finish. It's the kind of book you read in your spare time. The romance is great and well, more or less swoon-worthy (especially with Adam!). The book was enjoyable, fun-almost-exciting read. I liked the characters and the plot was quite great. The secret was unexpected - which was really awesome since I can usually pretty much guess it. Only things I didn't like about the book was the pace of it, since it was really fast, and slightly about their relationship.

ADAM PARKER!!!! Now I want me a piece of his hot ass. He's really hot. Like tamale hot ;) I've never tasted that but I'm pretty damn sure that it's freaking spicy! Anyways, he was really sweet and considerate towards Claire. He tried to open up to her and he seemed to genuinely care for her condition and everything. With his easy sense of humor, and horribly corny jokes, plus his beyond lovable personality, I just fell in love with him.

Claire was closed off in the beginning. Scratch that, she was closed off until she had no other choice but to tell her secret. It really fucking pissed me off since it seemed like Adam loved her more than she did him. Adam was the more open one in the relationship. He's the one who actually tries. She was pretty cool I guess with her slightly snarky attitude and her easiness with others despite whatever happened in the past.

P.S. HERE'S AN ADDITIONAL BONUS!
I present to you a joke, courtesy of Adam...

"What did the pony say when he had a sore throat?"

...

"I apologize. I'm a little horse."

I'm sorry, I just couldn't help myself teehee.

MY RATING:

3 AND A HALF APPLES!!!!

[Review] The Impact Of You - Kendall Ryan

Released: June 7th, 2013

Needing an escape from her past, Avery chooses a college in a small town where no one knows her. Keeping a low profile was the plan. Falling for the intense frat boy, Jase, wasn't. Yet she can't deny how alive she feels when he's near. Even as her mind screams for her to stay away, her body begs her to keep going.

Jase, numb from his own family drama, has grown bored with weekends filled with nameless girls and countless bottles when he meets Avery. Helping her cope with her past and teaching her how to live life fully is better than dealing with the bullshit his own life's served up. Determined to drive away the painful secret of her past she's guarding, he makes himself her life coach and creates challenges for her to experience new things and break out of her shell. Getting close to her and being the one to make her smile are simply perks of the job.

But when Avery's past saunters back into their lives, refusing to be forgotten, can Jase live with the truth about the girl he's fallen for?

A sexy, heart-warming and just great fun kind of book! Kendall Ryan once again creates another romantic book filled with horribly painful scenes, romantic scenes that make you swoon and hilarious scenes that made me piss my pants. The only problem I had with this book was that it was just a teensy bit too fast-paced. But not by much. I thought that the characters were absolutely wonderful and the plot was intriguing! Don't you just love books where the guy screws up? Well, here he does it. TWICE!

I love Avery. She's now on my list of top heroines. She's strong and vulnerable, innocent but not naïve, soft and gentle, yet feisty too. She's like thirty people in one. I like how, even though her past almost destroyed her completely and changed who she was, she didn't let it bring her down and just kept trudging on.

Jase was, ugh, so perfect throughout most of the book. He was a complete gentleman and an arrogant ass at the same time. But then again, what guy isn't? He's the typical player who then does a total 180 for the girl he loves. One tiny problem I had against Jase was how he reacted to Avery's past. It was sort of irrational and he was being rude to her. It wasn't technically her fault. I was also not a fan of how he didn't even apologize to her. For his first mistake at least.

MY RATING:

4 SWEET APPLES!!!!

About The Author:

Kendall Ryan is the author of the bestselling adult romances Unravel Me, Make Me Yours, Hard to Love, and Resisting Her.  She is shamelessly addicted to bad boys, kissing and steamy romance novels brimming with dark, angsty tension. She also likes kissing and wine!

[Review] The Siren - Tiffany Reisz

Released: June 24th, 2012

Notorious Nora Sutherlin is known for her delicious works of erotica, each one more popular with readers than the last. But her latest one is different - more serious and personal - and she's sure it'll be her breakout book...if it ever sees the light of day.

Zachary Easton, the fog, holds Nora's fate in his hands. The demanding and uptight British editor agrees to handle the book on one condition: he wants complete control. Nora must rewrite the entire novel to his exacting standards - in six weeks - or it's no deal.

Nora's grueling writing sessions with Zach are draining...and shockingly arousing. And a dangerous former lover has her wondering which is more torturous - staying away from him...or returning to his bed?

Nora thought she knew everything about being pushed to your limits. But in a world where passion is pain, nothing is ever that simple.

"There are only two reasons why you leave someone you're in love with - either it's the right thing to do, or it's the only thing you do."

MOTHER OF EVERYTHING HOLY! This book shocked me in so many different ways and it absolutely blew me away and tore me apart to a million fucking pieces at the same time. It wasn't only about the dom/sub relationships you can read in Fifty Shades. It wasn't the simple theory of S&M. It was so much more. The book spoke about identity, love, loss, separation, moving on, pain and, well, pleasure. It explained how sometimes pain is a way of showing how much you truly love someone, and about having to let go of the things you love most for the best.

Nora was sexy as hell! I honestly fell in love with her character so many times. It's not only because she was smoking hot and hilarious, she was feisty and tough as nails. We see how strong her character is in facing her decisions and also her past, as well as her present. She has to control her feelings in her "relationships" so that nothing goes out of hand. But Nora is also weak when it comes to certain temptations. She has to figure out a way to balance between her life with Wesley, whom you will meet in the beginning, her role as a writer, and also her mysterious and hidden alter-ego.

Zach is another interesting character besides Søren. He was freaking hot. He was like smoking hot. Not only in the way he manages to handle Nora. He's tough, yeah sure. But the fact that he has some vulnerability in him makes him even more attractive. He doesn't give in easily to Nora's ridiculous demands. He can actually keep her at bay - which actually turns her on.
(P.S. He's not like Jensen Ackles above since Zach is so uptight)

But honestly, I really didn't expect much from this book. I thought it was going to be the simple and romantic novel kind of thing. But it wasn't. It was much darker and twisted than that. But, at the same time, the author inserts such witty phrases and lines that you just can't help but laugh. I highlighted so many lines and quotes here. It was just so damn good.

WARNING: Do not read if you are uncomfortable with the idea of extreme dom/sub activities

[Review] Forever Too Far - Abbi Glines

Released: June 9th, 2013

Rush promised her forever...but promises can be broken.

Torn between his love for his family and his love for Blaire, Rush has to figure out a way to save one without losing the other. In the end, he must choose one that's more important. But letting go isn't easy.

Blaire believed in her fairytale...but no one can live in a fantasy.

Her love for Rush and desire to have a family keep her believing that they can find a way to work this out. Until she has to make the right decision for her and the baby. Even if that decision breaks her heart.

Can they find the forever they both want or has it all just gone...too far?

This is basically a good book to read if you have spare time. I'm just glad that I get to read about *sighs dreamily* Rush Finlay again. I'm honestly sort of disappointed with this book. The first one was probably the best but then Never Too Far became a bit too cliché for me. I was hoping that Forever Too Far would make up for it but unfortunately. Anyways, it had a similar theme to the second one, which was about Blaire's insecurity. I think that the only things that saved this book were Rush's adorable attitude (in some parts at least) and also the fact that he fucked up. AGAIN. Because I love it when the guy screws up and just begs the girl to come back ;)

Rush is super-duper-like-candy-cane sweet here. He was really considerate of both Nan, even though she was a complete raging bitch, and Blaire. It was hard for him to juggle them both in his life especially because one hates the other. He's the only one she's got left but he has got to set. his. priorities. straight.  But seeing him as a dad is just freaking best. He's too adorable!

Blaire was too emotional in my own opinion. But, I guess that's the pregnancy hormones working. But I sort of didn't like how she was made to be the damsel in distress. It's like, we always have to have sympathy towards her. I've always liked tough heroines so I guess Blaire didn't do much for me.

MY RATING:

3 APPLES!!!!

About The Author:

Fanmade Friday!: Fifty Shades of Grey Fanfiction

And this week's Fanmade Friday! is...

Fifty Shades of Grey Fanfiction

I think that all internet users know what a fanfiction is. But, in case you don't, it's basically a fan of a book or a movie, or whatever character they love, writing a story with a different plot and theme, recreating the characters' world. Fifty Shades started out as a fanfiction after all!

Fanfiction Information:
Title: Fifty Shades Apart
Author: MrsLuthor on fanfiction.net
Summary:
A 'what-if' story that picks up where the first book ends, after Ana leaves Christian.
Status: Complete

My Comments:
This fanfiction was honestly one of the best I've ever read. I mean, I loved the Fifty Shades series and I immediately looked through fanfiction for, well, a remade story about Ana and Christian. Fifty Shades Apart is really good! So if you want to give it a try, go ahead! The link's above ;)

Tune in next time for another Fanmade Friday!

[Review] REAL - Katy Evans

Released: April 8th, 2013

A fallen boxer.

A woman with a broken dream.
A competition...

He even makes me forget my name. One night was all it took, and I forgot everything. Except for the sexy fighter in the ring who sets my mind - and every other girl's - ablaze.

Remington Tate is the strongest, most confusing man I've ever met. He's the star of the dangerous underground fighting circuit and I'm drawn to him like I've never been drawn to anything in my life. When he's around, I need to remind myself that I am strong - but he is stronger. It's now my job to keep his body working , his taut muscles primed and him ready to break the bones of his next opponents.

But the one he's most threatening to is me. I want him and I want him without fear. If only I knew for sure what it is that he wants from me?

*SHRIEKS REALLY LOUDLY UNTIL I BREAK EVERY WINDOW* This is just the most amazing debut ever! Katy Evans has blown me away with this heart-wrenching yet sexy as hell novel. The characters were so fucking captivating and admirable, the plot was intriguing and different. And the writing style? A+++++ Don't even get me started on the freaking hot cover. OH GOD. Everything about this book was absolute perfection.

Ladies and gentlemen, prepare to drop your panties for Remington "Riptide" Tate!!!! He is just the perfect mixture of cocky, confident, smokin' hot with an addition of charming and romantic and just a touch of vulnerability with his imperfections. I loved how Katy Evans created a character who seemed so physically perfect yet he was just full of demons. He went into the relationship slowly and carefully, being absolutely thoughtful and just so damn considerate. He is my man okay my type of guy.

BROOKE OH BROOKE! This woman is hot, badass and smart! I admire how she's overcome obstacles in her life and yet she kept going on. She. Never. Gave. Up. She was a tough chica. I mean like, if I was her, I'd probably be weeping in a corner but did she do that? Hell to the no. She doesn't take shit from anyone and I love how accepting she was towards Remy.

You will enjoy this book immensely. I guarantee it with all my heart and soul. Come on, who doesn't want to read about an undeniably, unbelievably gorgeous fighter? If you see this book in stores, you. must. get. it. I promise you won't be disappointed.

[Review] Hush, Hush - Becca Fitzpatrick

Released: October 13th, 2009

Romance was never part of Nora Grey's plan. She's never been particularly interested to the boys at her school, despite her best friend, Vee's, effort to push them towards her.

Not until Patch comes along. With his easy smile and his unnerving ability to see inside her, Patch draws Nora to him against her better judgement.

But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora doesn't know who for sure to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is and seems to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run the hell away from him. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds that the truth is way more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.

For she is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and, when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost Nora her life.

OHMYGOD! So I read this book like a really long time ago. But I'm still head-over-heels and absolutely obsessed with it. You would be too if you knew Patch ;) But oh God I just read this book again and I realized how much I really missed it! This is definitely one of my most favorite fantasy series ever. It's about a hot fallen angel and an average girl as they get involved in not only hot chemistry but even the war between an immortal and the fallen.

No matter how many times I read this book (and this is probably like the twentieth time), I still fall in love with Patch over and over again. Really. Patch is definitely makes it to my top five book boyfriends. He's the whole definition of tall, dark and handsome. He's mysterious, sexy as fuck and he just basically makes you want to jump his bones. God, really though. And his damn sexual innuendos will drive you over the edge. I laughed and giggled like a kid on Christmas morning.

OHMYGOD AND NORA GREY. Those legs unf bb unf. She's my kind of woman (hope that doesn't sound too creepy). But really, she's smoking in her own way and she's tough. I love her character. As Patch described her, she's "attractive. intelligent. vulnerable". God, I fucking (pardon my French) loved her character in the book. She's noble and loyal and ugh, everything.

MY RATING:

6 AH-MAZING APPLES!!!!!

Ladies and gents, with this book, I present to you my NEWEST rating, which is six special apples!!! This is basically five apples with an additional, special golden one! ;D SIX APPLES will be presented to the books I abso-freaking-lutely loved and could read over and over again!

[Review] Vampire Academy - Richelle Mead

Released: August 16th, 2007

St. Vladimir's Academy isn't any normal boarding school - it's a hidden place, to humans at least, where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is Dhampir, half-vampire, half-human, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess.

They'd been running. Running from danger which the academy holds. But now, they're being dragged right back to St. Vladimir's.

Rose and Lissa become involved in plenty of complicated things, such as forbidden romance, the ruthless social scene of the academy, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful so that the Strigoi - the world's fiercest and most dangerous vampires - won't make Lissa one of them forever.

So, while I was out last weekend, I stumbled upon the boxset of Vampire Academy. And this was my chance. It was on sale and it was pretty cheap so I went for it. Wow, I am so disappointed in myself that I didn't start reading this series sooner. It came out in 2007 for God's sake, Sam *huffs* But anyway, wow. Abso-freaking-lutely wow. I honestly didn't intend to devour the book that fast but I surprisingly did. It was so freaking good. Now I know that the buzz is all about. I went into this book, expecting it to be another Twilight, but thankfully it wasn't. I mean no offense to the Twilight series, but I just wasn't fond of it. Richelle Mead writes in such a captivating way that you just fall in love instantly.

Her characters were amazing. I loved loved loved Rose. She's one badass chica who doesn't take shit from anyone. I adore her personality and easygoing character, especially all those sexual jokes, all of it. The way she handles things, even though she can be just the slightest bit reckless, she knows which side she's on and she would do anything to protect the people she loves.

Dimitri is one of those mysterious, yet intriguing characters. He was definitely one of my favorites in the book. He was hot. Not only that, he was one of the best guardians out there. Now, tell the truth, what girl doesn't love an unbelievably good-looking fighter? What girl could even resist a guy like that? But Dimitri knows his responsibilities and position. He's just perfect.

Other characters I loved were, well, Lissa and Christian, and also Mason. God, I loved them all so much I wanted to just kiss them and tear them to bits.
